A pale-faced woman lay motionless in a hospital bed. Though she slept soundly, her brows occasionally knit together, and the stillness of her face would shift into a faint frown.
It was Li Mei, resting in her room.
Several people surrounded the bed. An elderly woman sat on one side, while two young men in suits sat on the other. None of them looked as if they had slept all night.
One of the suited men was Wang Haoran.
The night before, Dr. Park had called him to explain the situation. It had been late, and they were already on their way back to the hospital when he received the news.
"Sir… I… I'm sorry, but Miss Li had a miscarriage this evening. The twins are… gone." Dr. Park tried to steady her voice, choosing each word with care, but the heaviness still slipped through. For all her professionalism, she was still human.
On the other end, there was only silence.
