"How about now?" She turned her face with a mischievous smile, "Mr. Abel, is your foot okay?"
"It's fine." Abel raised his arm over the back of her chair, leaning towards her, and gently tucked the loose strands of her hair behind her ear as he whispered softly, "One day, I'll make sure you can't get out of bed for three days!"
Betty turned her face, her smile blooming like a flower, as one hand landed on his thigh and squeezed his flesh hard.
"When the time comes, I'll make sure you can't get out of bed for a lifetime!"
Enduring the pain, Abel kept his smile and remained leaning close to her ear.
