His expression instantly shifted to one of suspicion, his eyes narrowing with a murderous intent. "What do you want?" he demanded, voice tense and guarded.
I raised my hands in a calming gesture. "Whoa, easy. I mean you no harm. In fact, if you accept this deal, I can protect you from Arkus Maguire."
Nolan hesitated, clutching the dagger hidden beneath his cloak, eyes flickering with doubt. "I can't believe Arkus— that bastard— would resort to such tricks! Sending a kid to kill me, hah! You'd better leave while I'm still being nice."
I took a step closer. "I know you were there when Kaelith Bloodfane was killed during the Spire of the Damned Conquest. I want to see Arkus locked up for his crimes."
Nolan's gaze narrowed as he laughed sarcastically. "What makes you think I'd be willing to help you?"
