Macaron finally fluttered down with all the drama of a reluctant child, perching on my shoulder like he owned the place. "Oh, come on! You didn't even notice how I look earlier—you just scolded me!"
I rolled my eyes, but a laugh slipped out anyway. "You look like a walking chandelier."
"That's all you have to say?" he huffed, puffing up his glowing feathers like a peacock.
I ignored his sulking before he got stuck in another rant. "So, how did your feathers change, anyway?"
"From eating, of course!" he said proudly. "I ate and ate until my body suddenly glowed up!"
I raised an eyebrow. "Uh-huh. That's probably how Kael tracked you here. You were basically a flying lantern."
"No!" he shot back immediately.
"Yes."
"No!"
"Refuse one more time and I won't buy you creampuffs," I warned.
"N—" He froze, swallowing hard.
I smirked. "Thought so. Now change back to your original feathers and let's grab some first before heading back."
