When I stepped out, Kairos was already dressed, leaning casually against the lockers. His damp hair clung to his forehead, making him look even more unapproachable. His eyes flicked to me the moment I emerged, and I swore my pulse skipped a beat.
"Since I'm done helping you, I should get going now," I said, voice trembling slightly as I turned to leave. Just as I was about to step away, he spoke.
"Wait, I just want to say thank you… despite putting us in an awkward position a moment ago," he said calmly.
My face heated up again, and I hurried to explain, "I already said I'm sorry, and for the record, I slipped—it was an accident, so it's not my fault!"
