Chapter 6 - ch 006 Moving into the Chu Family (3)

Ci : [Poverty makes me get up early. ]

[Boss, please stop being ridiculous. If you are still poor despite your assets, you are richer than all of us combined. If you still say you are poor, then there will be very few rich people left in the world! ]

Ci : [Forget it, let's have a meeting, I have something to do in the afternoon.]

Chu Ci mentioned to her subordinates several times that she was poor, and hoped that they would be conscientious and give her something, including a house and a car. She wouldn't mind.

However, her brothers just couldn't understand what she wanted.

In the eyes of her subordinates, Chu Ci casually donated tens of millions, built several Hope Primary Schools at every turn, funded a few college students when she had nothing to do, spent huge sums of money to establish a pharmaceutical company and developed new drugs but gave them away for free...

"How can someone like Chu Ci be poor?" Chu Ci's subordinates didn't believe it.

She couldn't explicitly ask for it, as it wouldn't count as a gift and would be judged as a violation by the system.

At twelve o'clock at noon, Chu Ci went downstairs, and the servants at home put a variety of delicacies on the dining table.

Chu Han was already in his seat.

There were only two people at the huge dining table, Chu Ci and Chu Han.

Today is Chu Ci's first day home, and no one else in the family showed up to greet her.

So far, Chu Ci has only seen this younger brother and his grandfather in the hospital bed upstairs.

Although Chu Han had no feelings for Chu Ci, he also knew that such a situation would be somewhat embarrassing for Chu Ci, so he explained: "Our parents left for a business trip to the capital a few days ago. They have important matters to attend to. Just wait, you will see them when they return in a few days."

"Oh." Chu Ci replied calmly, his expression and tone were very calm.

Chu Ci found having a satisfying meal today more rewarding compared to meeting with the rest of their family members.

Chu Ci didn't complain at all about the fact that no one else in the family came to welcome her, which made Chu Han feel inexplicably uncomfortable.

If she complained a little bit, he would consider it normal.

She was content with a small amount of food that was typical in their household, which made Chu Han feel a bit guilty. His sister must have suffered a lot these years.

Meng Yuxin also came to the dining table.

Today is the weekend, and neither of them has to go to school.

After Meng Yuxin sat down, she asked Chu Han: "Xiaohan, how old is your sister and what school is she attending??"

Meng Yuxin's question stumped Chu Han.

He only saw from the information his grandfather gave him that his sister was two years older than him.

But I don't know where his sister is currently studying.

So Chu Han turned to Chu Ci and asked, "Where are you going to school now?"

 "I don't", Chu Ci replied.

Most of her attention was on the food in front of him.

Today for lunch, there was a Western-style meal. The starter was a cream chicken puff pastry box, followed by oxtail soup as the main soup course. For the side dish, there was pan-fried cod, and for the main course, they will be having French foie gras. Finally, there was a salad and dessert to finish off the meal.

Chu Han's expression changed as soon as Chu Ci mentioned that she didn't attend school.

After careful consideration, he realized that it actually made sense.

She lives in a slum with no one to take care of her, and it is normal for her to have no money to go to school.

The information obtained by Chu Han showed that Chu Ci was sent to an orphanage just one month after he was born, and was adopted by a couple who were infertile when she was five years old.

But when Chu Ci was six years old, her adoptive mother gave birth to a boy, which made Chu Ci's situation at her adoptive parents' home very difficult.

Three years ago, when she was fifteen years old, her adoptive parents immigrated abroad with their biological son, leaving Chu Ci alone in the country without any relatives or friends.
