Chapter 71 - THE END OF THE FIRST STAGE

As the white island drifts silently through space, Kayle stirs. She crawls toward Tomi, shaking him awake. His eyes widen at the void surrounding them.

"We… we did it!" Kayle gasps, her voice filled with both exhaustion and awe.

Before anyone can respond, glowing words appear in the air above them:

"Congratulations. You have survived the impossible—The Doom Wave."

Kayle collapses into Gaia's arms, the two embracing in relief. Boa, however, remains silent. His chest is heavy, his eyes locked on the empty void where Jen's body once floated. One by one, their figures shimmer with magic—and vanish.

Meanwhile, far away on Planet Silva, the massive spaceship descends from the stars, casting a shadow over the sprawling high-tech city, Silva city. The citizens pour into the streets and hover in their sleek, floating cars, gazing upward as the vessel lands just outside the city walls.

But as the crowd stares, the colossal ship begins to dissolve into glowing streams of digital data, revealing the sprawling towers of Taeo City, before their eyes.

Cheers erupt from within the Taeo city. Stars and citizens alike fill the streets in celebration, their voices carrying into the skies.

High above, Gilga descends upon a floating platform, as he glides toward Silva City.

"I hope you all don't feel too bad about me," he says, voice calm and mocking.

Furious, dozens of Silva's spacecars open fire. Blazing lasers streak toward him. With a flick of his hand, Gilga conjures a digital wall, the energy screen shimmering as it absorbs every blast.

"I apologize," he continues, lowering his head slightly, "for taking out your golden child. In exchange…" He smiles with intent. "I'll give you all a special parting gift."

Before the Silva citizens can react, every Star within Taeo City begins to shimmer with the same magic glow seen on the white island. One by one, they vanish.

Gilga bows deeply toward Silva City. Then he too dissolves into magic light.

The silence lasts only a heartbeat.

Suddenly, the entire Taeo city glows.

Taeo City bursts into a storm of swirling digital data, its towers unraveling into a radiant cyclone. And then—detonation. A single cataclysmic explosion shreds the land apart.

The blast is so powerful it engulfs Silva City in seconds. A wave of light and fire swallows its streets, its skies, its people. The twin destruction burns so brightly, so violently, that the explosion is visible even from space.

Meanwhile on Planet Isha, on the rim of the vast ocean crater, the clash continues. Kairo drives his digital spear forward, his mecha thrumming with energy. His weapon smashes into the faceplate of the dark-armored woman, shattering her Star mask into fragments.

The pieces scatter into the sea wind.

Kairo freezes. His eyes widen as he stares at her exposed face.

"You… how are you here?! No… it can't be…"

The woman's features are unmistakable—it's Kayle.

His scanner flickers wildly, running her face through a dozen checks. The results flash across his display, confirming what his eyes already see.

"Ahhh… I get it now," Kairo mutters, his voice caught between shock and grim realization. "You look older… much older. Former Ms. Head of Platinumgrey… AKA.... Kelay Boombronze." His gaze hardens. "Then who the hell is the other one in the Star Games? Because I thought that was you."

Kelay still doesn't say a word.

Before either can move again, the sky above them rips apart.

A giant rainbow portal spirals open, its light bending the ocean into waves. Kairo's eyes dart to his wrist device as alarms blare.

"World-Level rising… Level 10… 11… 12?!" His voice cracks with disbelief. "What the hell is going on?!"

From the portal descends a massive prismatic island, glowing like crystal fire. The gateway snaps shut behind it, and the island plunges straight into the crater below.

The sea erupts.

Suddenly, a shadow looms beside Kairo. He doesn't even have time to brace before Nox appears, swinging his diamond shovel. The strike smashes into Kairo with devastating force, sending him crashing through ten warships before his body plummets into the ocean with a thunderous splash.

"There's only one Gem Noble here?" Nox mutters, straightening as his magic glows with intense aura. "The others must be… really busy."

Kelay bows her head, voice steady. "Welcome back, King Nox."

Nox regards her with a sharp, knowing look. "Good work, Kelay, but I'll be going soon... I've met the other you. Surprisingly… it was your lost son, Dustin. He's turned out to be quite the asset."

A faint smile touches Kelay's lips.

With that, Nox dissolves into streams of magic, vanishing.

Kelay mounts the Leviathan, guiding the colossal beast into the depths. As it dives, the crater begins to close, seawater crashing down until the wound in the ocean disappears.

Moments later, Kairo bursts back out of the waves, gasping, his mecha suit cracked and sparking. His digital screen sputters with a grim readout:

World-Level dropping… 12 → 6.2.

"Damn it all…" Kairo growls, rage in his eyes.

His helmet buzzes with a storm of urgent notifications. The sound grates against his ears. With a curse, he rips the helmet off, hurling it into the sea.

Meanwhile, in God's Arena, God, in his Avatar form, swings his massive arms as celebrations erupt. Fireworks boom across the space skies while countless magical screens broadcast the Star Games.

"This year's Star Games has been an amazing one," God declares, his voice shaking the entire arena. "Better than any previous Star Games before!"

The many space ships across the universe, lights up their headlights with radiant colors in response. God continues, "I'll give you all a breakdown! Here we have the 2.1 million Stars who escaped Doom Planet, either through special events or by turning in their unique tasks!"

The magic screens shifts, projecting images of the surviving Stars on the massive God Arena. In one section, Ignis stands among the few surviving Stars of Planet Verdin. Floating words above their section mark their planet's name. He scans the crowd, then frowns.

"Where's Tobias?" Ignis asks. His fellow Stars remain silent.

"No way… he died?!" Ignis mutters.

Suddenly, a familiar voice calls out. "I'm here, Ignis…" Tobias steps forward, his face turned away in shame.

Ignis rushes over and embraces him. "I'm glad to see you still alive!"

Tears streak down Tobias's cheeks. "I'm sorry I left you behind… I got too scared, so I completed my first two tasks and turned them in right away."

"That's smart," Ignis replies with a emotional smile. "You wouldn't have survived the first stage anyways. But did you see the new friends I made?! And everything we went through?!"

Tobias shakes his head. "No. I was too afraid to even look at the screen… I didn't want to see you dead."

Ignis laughs, clapping him on the back. "It's okay. I'll tell you all the stories during the break!"

Meanwhile, in another section of the Arena, Planet Isha, this section still holds a large number of Stars—some belonging to Boa's men, others from Kayle's team, while most are nobles and pawns.

Crank stands firmly with his people, silent, his towering presence radiating strength. One of his teammates steps closer.

"Captain Crank, are you sure you're fine?"

Crank doesn't answer. His lips remain sealed, but his eyes glisten with restrained emotion, speaking more than words ever could.

Meanwhile, one of Gaia's Pawns wakes Ortis. He blinks awake, touches his body, and gasps, "What?! I survived?! Where's—"

He spots Hopper standing nearby. "You'll see soon enough what happened," Hopper says.

God's voice booms across the Arena. "Now come, 752 Stars who survived the first stage by escaping in their own unique ways!"

With a snap of his fingers, 752 beams of light shoot out across the Arena, flying into the "Unique Section." The light reveals Stars such as Nox, Corvex, Hans, and Gilga standing among them.

God snaps again, and the magic screens shift, replaying the events of Doom Planet day by day.

Stars fight among themselves: Kayle versus Lars in the underground chambers, natives clashing with invading Stars, Boa battling native warriors, Tomi and Taeo fighting in Juiva City, Gaia's ship battles, and all six Chosens—Nox, Kayle, Lars, Boa, Ignis, and Atheen—making their mark with their powers.

Rose finally destroys the darkness in the world with her sunlight powers.

Day 9: The Prismatic Island flies through the rainbow portal. Boa meditates atop a World Tree in the spirit realm. The giant spaceship carries Taeo City to safety. Kayle charges the Divine Mighty Arrow and fires it at the incoming planet. Battles with Lars unfold as Jen slashes him countless times into the Moon Path. Boa's massive Spiritual Avatar thrusts its sword into Lars, that also strikes the Divine Arrow and causing a massive explosion. The incoming planet sustains a massive hole, as it descends and destroys most of Doom Planet and leaving only a small white island floating in space.

God raises his hand. "Here are the five Stars who survived the Impossible Wave!"

He snaps his fingers, and five beams of energy streak into the Arena, striking the section marked "Impossible". Kayle, Gaia, Tomi, and Boa are revealed.

On the Frostsilver ship, Terra leaps to her feet. "That's my Gaia!"

The final energy beam crashes down, revealing Lars still clad in his rainbow armor. As the armor falls away, the crowd gasps in shock as everyone believed Lars was dead.

On the Platinumgrey ship, Sunny and Zion erupt in celebration. Zion beams with pride. "I'm proud of you, son!" He turns his gaze toward Kayle on the digital screen. Sunny leans closer. "Kairo just notified me—that lady is actually your son, Dustin."

Zion straightens, his voice steady. "I had a small hunch it was him from the very beginning."

God spreads his arms wide. "Now, the leaderboard!"

The magic screens shimmer to life, showing placements rising from the lowest toward the highest. As the numbers climb, anticipation builds.

10 – Jayden

The Star Hero of Taeo City, saved countless lives, lifted the spirits of hundreds, and stood as a beacon of light during the darkest days.

9 – Hans

The brilliant young Star who outwitted many Stars from the start. He befriended Soma, the Son of the Moon, gave him purpose, helped him shine as a moon-born beacon of light against the darkness, even became a moon beacon of light himself for the final dark war.

God pauses, his voice deepening. "From here onward, the top eight are on a level far beyond the rest—there is a massive gap between ninth place and eighth."

8 – Ignis

A Chosen who survived within the belly of the Blaze Dragon and then slew it from within the spirit world. He shone brightest when the world was swallowed by darkness, his fire saving countless lives. He was Boa's strongest pillar of support.

7 – Nox

A Chosen whose earth magic was unmatched. He carried entire battles alone, even creating a massive magical portal that saved many of natives and Stars. A Dragon Slayer. For the longest time, he was the strongest of the Chosen.

6 – Gilga

A technological mastermind gifted with Chosen powers. He was one of the three who shaped the grand plan and another Dragon Slayer. Soon betrayed the most hyped Star, Taeo, stealing his ship and destroying planet Silva's capital city, killing most of its people and the very natives he had once saved.

As the screen flashes the twin explosions over Silva, Gilga only bows and smiles.

5 – Tomi

A veteran from the 109th Star Games. A scholar, a strategist, and a guide, Tomi became a cornerstone for multiple powerful teams. Reliable and wise, he only reaches this high because of the tenfold multiplier for surviving the Impossible Wave.

4 – Gaia

A master strategist who thrived from the start. Gifted with the power of a Chosen, she was another key figure in the grand plan and a Dragon Slayer. She inspired Stars and natives alike—many even fell in love with her. Like Tomi, her placement is elevated by the tenfold Impossible survival factor.

3 – Boa

A lightning and spirit Chosen, and a leader who rose from tribal battles to guide the eastern villages. A Dragon Slayer, a spiritual traveler, and bearer of the will of a trillion lost souls from another universe. He carried many fallen souls back to his home planet and even traveled back! Gifted his power to countless Stars and natives, destroyed the spiritual realm, and was chosen by the Lady of the Planet herself. He endured until the bitter end.

2 – Lars

The most unpredictable Star. A Chosen who rerolled his task the most. A Dragon Slayer—and the only one to slay two Chosens. A wielder of Ultima who spread chaos across Doom Planet, Giga slayer of both Stars and natives alike. He narrowly escaped being consumed as a vessel of darkness and even survived the incoming planet's impact twice.

1 – Kayle

The Main Star of the first stage. She discovered a hidden tribe and hidden Chosen powers, became a Dragon Slayer, and clashed with the greatest Stars and beings of Doom. Chosen by the Lady of the Planet, she not only defied but conquered the impossible odds. She was the reason three of the top five even reached this high up in the leaderboard.
