Watching her chug the glass, Sun Dasheng laughed and finished the liquor in his own.
"This second glass," she said, "is me begging you again, Uncle, hoping you can put in a few good words for me with Zi Xuan. Please get her to forgive me sooner."
She downed it again in one gulp.
Today's drink was a high-proof liquor, not the low-alcohol beer or foreign spirits from the bars. Even though she could hold her liquor well, her face was flushed red after just two glasses.
"Uncle Sun, why aren't you drinking?"
Sun Dasheng simply smiled without a word and continued eating.
She slapped her forehead and poured another glass. "This time, I'm the one asking for your help, Uncle Sun. It's only right that I drink one more."
With that, she chugged it down again.
This time she choked a little and started coughing.
