Ten minutes later, the babies had finished eating and clamored to go see the pigs.
Pan's mother glanced outside, where the sky was already dark, and coaxed the children. "The pigs are sleeping now. We'll see them when we wake up tomorrow."
Jiang Chenchen told the babies, "The pigs are sleeping. I'll let you see them tomorrow."
The babies were a bit disappointed, but still very happy. They played with toys in the living room, where Jiang Chenchen still had some of hers left. It was like a treasure hunt for the children as they searched here and there.
After the meal, Pan's mother went to do the dishes. It was then that Pan's father started to set up a table and chairs in the yard, eating peanuts and drinking wine. There was a single bright lamp lighting the yard.
The children's games moved from the living room to the yard, where they squatted by a garlic shoot patch and discovered a new treasure.
