"The new gang that swore loyalty just got wiped out," The other Beta reported, almost sheepishly.

Jael's brows lifted in surprise. He had been of the opinion that the High Council had called a momentary truce as they schemed up a new plan to convince Asher.

But then again, this was a no-name gang who had been desperate to enjoy the benefits that came with being associated with a Mafia House. They were like sewer rats, content to do little dirty jobs in exchange for protection and influence.

It was unlikely that the High Council was the culprit.

"It wasn't the High Council." The report went on, his subordinate already guessing his thought process, "...but some amateur gang. They didn't even hide their tracks."

"We were about to send in a report. Should we take out the amateur gang?"

Jael was amused; the wiped-out gang was pretty no-name already. How much smaller was the gang that completely took them out to be called amateurs?
