I lie flat on the soft forest floor, the scent of pine and crushed grass rising with every breath. The fires from the Moonlight Revelry crackle in the near distance, throwing flickers of gold across the leaves overhead. Wolves are moaning and laughing, tangled together in every shade of desire imaginable—but all I can focus on is her.

My mate.

Ember.

Currently kneeling between my legs with a look of wicked concentration on her face.

And playing with my hard-on.

Yes—playing.

Because she's licking it like it's a popsicle, poking it with her finger like she's inspecting its structural integrity, and humming softly to herself as if deeply pleased by the results.

I let out a groan and drop my head back against the ground.

Honestly, I can only lie here and endure.

"Little flame," I rasp, voice tight, "please stop playing around and—"

But I don't get to finish that sentence.

Because suddenly, my wolf surges to the surface.

Something's wrong.

Very wrong.
