I rise onto my toes and kiss him.
It's gentle at first—a brush of lips, soft and tentative, a question more than an answer. His breath catches. His fingers tighten just slightly around mine. For a moment, neither of us moves, suspended in the fragile quiet of the moment.
Then Tristan kisses me back.
He kisses me like something finally broke loose inside him—like a dam giving way after decades of pressure. His hand comes up to cradle the back of my neck, big and warm and trembling, drawing me deeper into him.
A small sound escapes my throat—embarrassing, needy—and his grip tightens, like he's been starving and suddenly, finally, allowed to taste.
