Chapter 102
Ember
I stand in front of the mirror, staring at my protruding belly, and a familiar, unwelcome insecurity creeps up my spine.
I look like a melon.
A very cute melon… but still. A melon.
I wrinkle my nose at my reflection, turning sideways, then straight, then sideways again.
Great.
Now I look like a distended melon.
But then I remember Kellan's words—not the sweet ones he whispers at night, but the stern lecture he gave me two days ago when he found me glaring at my stomach like it had personally offended me.
"Hating what you look like now is insulting our pup… and insulting my mate. I won't allow it."
It annoyed me at the time… but damn it, he was right.
This belly isn't something wrong with me.
It's proof of life.I take a breath, shake off the last of the insecurity, slip into one of Kellan's oversized shirts, and head back into the bedroom.
