Chapter 7 - other sides

News Broadcast – Live]

ANCHOR:

Breaking news tonight! It has been confirmed that the vigilante known as "Spider-Man" was responsible for rescuing Miss Shield from a recent kidnapping attempt. While some call him a hero… others still see him as a menace.

ANCHOR (cont'd):

And speaking of that—anyone who can bring me decent pictures of Spider-Man, there's a cash reward waiting for you.

[Principal Nezu's Office – U.A. High]

Nezu sits quietly, staring at a blurry surveillance image on his screen. It shows a red-and-blue figure mid-leap, just barely clear enough to make out the spider symbol on his chest.

NEZU (thinking aloud):

"Hm… From his build and movement, he's definitely too young to be in Hero School. Either he decided not to wait for a license… or there's something more. Just what are your motives, young one?"

[Scene Change – Press Conference]

Reporters crowd around David Shield, microphones thrust forward, cameras flashing.

REPORTER:

"Mr. Shield, how do you feel knowing that a vigilante saved your daughter… and not a pro hero?"

DAVID SHIELD (firmly):

"There's not much to say, other than this: I'm thankful. He saved something I could never replace. If he's watching this… he has my sincerest thanks."

[Aldera Middle School – Lunch Break]

Katsuki Bakugo slams his lunch tray down, scowling as other students chatter excitedly about the mysterious Spider-Man.

KATSUKI:

"Tch. That spider freak's nothing but a show-off. He ain't even a real hero. I could crush him."

Andrew Midoriya, the twin brother of Izuku, leans back in his seat, eyes half-lidded but amused.

ANDREW:

"Yeah? Maybe. We'll see—once you actually get into a hero school. Who knows? He might not even be around by then."

Katsuki narrows his eyes.

KATSUKI:

"Nerd. You keep running your mouth like that, I'll kill you."

Andrew just smirks, shaking his head.

[Hero Commission HQ – Emergency Meeting]

The mood in the boardroom is tense. On the main screen is a paused frame of Spider-Man swinging across the skyline.

PRESIDENT OF THE HERO COMMISSION:

"This meeting was called to address the growing issue of the vigilante calling himself Spider-Man."

COMMISSIONER MANAFITSU:

"He's disrupting the system. Pro heroes are meant to maintain order. But this kid? He's operating outside of it, taking justice into his own hands."

PRESIDENT:

"Whether he means well or not, his actions set a dangerous precedent. We can't afford chaos—not again."

Scene – Midoriya Household | Late Evening]

The house is quiet. The only sound is the soft hum of the refrigerator. Izuku sits at the kitchen table, scribbling in his hero analysis notebook. His eyes are tired, but focused. The clock reads 11:42 PM.

The front door creaks open.

IZUKU: (startled)

"H-Hello…? Mom?"

Andrew steps inside, his hoodie pulled up, shoes slightly scuffed. There's a faint bruise on his cheek and a tear in his sleeve. He quickly shuts the door behind him.

ANDREW:

"Relax, it's just me."

IZUKU (worried):

"Andrew?! Where were you? It's almost midnight!"

ANDREW: (shrugging)

"Just… walking. Needed air."

Izuku notices the bruise, his expression shifting from concern to suspicion.

IZUKU:

"You were in another fight, weren't you?"

ANDREW: (smirking slightly)

"I didn't start it."

IZUKU: (sighs)

"You always say that. You're reckless, you know that?"

ANDREW (quietly, avoiding his gaze):

"Someone had to do something."

Izuku sets his notebook down, tone softening.

IZUKU:

"You're not alone, you know… Even if we are no where near the age to go to UA Yet you can talk to me. We're brothers."

Andrew finally looks up, his confident facade cracking for a moment.

ANDREW:

"I know. It's just… sometimes it feels like i have to rush in when someone in danger thier was no heroes and well they needed saving

IZUKU: (soft smile)

"You sound like Mom when she watches the news."

ANDREW: (chuckles)

"She does get dramatic."

There's a short silence. Then—

IZUKU:

"Whatever it is you're doing… just don't shut me out, okay?"

ANDREW: (nods)

"Yeah. I promise."

Izuku reaches out and places a hand on Andrew's shoulder.

IZUKU:

"We're in this together. One day… we'll both be heroes. The right way."

ANDREW (smiling faintly):

"One day."

Andrew heads toward the bathroom to clean up, leaving Izuku staring at the bruises on his brother's back as he walks away. He doesn't press for answers… but deep down, he suspects the truth.

Outside the window, the city sleeps. Somewhere in the distance, a police siren wails.

Scene – Midoriya Household | Early Morning, Saturday]

The sun peeks through the curtains. Izuku sits cross-legged on the living room floor, surrounded by newspapers and his hero analysis notebooks. A headline catches his eye:

"Spider-Man Strikes Again – Vigilante Foils Robbery in Hosu District"

A grainy image of Spider-Man mid-swing stretches across the page.

IZUKU (murmuring to himself):

"That's the third time this week…"

He flips through his notes. Each article is clipped and annotated. He's started to log Spider-Man's sightings, timing, and even a few moves he's observed from security footage. One page has a question written in bold:

"Who is he?"

IZUKU (thoughtfully):

"He's fast. Agile. Almost like he has a danger-sensing quirk. And he builds his own gear, maybe?"

Footsteps come from the hallway. Andrew walks in, stretching and yawning. He's wearing a hoodie again—always hoodies lately—and there's a faint scrape on his palm.

ANDREW:

"Morning. You're up early for a weekend."

IZUKU (casually):

"Could say the same to you. You've been getting up before me all week. That's new."

ANDREW (chuckling):

"What can I say? Gotta keep the mystery alive."

Izuku watches him carefully, then subtly glances at the scrape on Andrew's hand.

IZUKU:

"What happened to your hand?"

ANDREW:

"Ah… slipped climbing the old stair rails near the park. No big deal."

IZUKU (frowning slightly):

"You always say that. And yet you're always bruised, always tired… and always out late."

ANDREW (smirks, deflecting):

"What are you, my mom now?"

IZUKU:

"I'm serious, Andrew."

Andrew's smirk fades just a little. A moment of tension sits between them.

ANDREW (quietly):

"I know. I just… have things I need to do. For myself."

Izuku nods slowly, though his eyes don't leave Andrew. The younger twin glances at the newspapers spread across the floor. He raises a brow.

ANDREW:

Spider-Man again?

IZUKU (muttering):

"Yeah. He's amazing. No license, no backup… and he still saves people. But he takes risks. Big ones. It's like he has to."

*Andrew doesn't respond right away. Instead, he walks to the kitchen to get a drink of water. As he does, Izuku stares at the back of his hoodie. His eyes fall on a faint red stain near the seam of the shoulder. Maybe blood. Maybe paint. But it's familiar.

IZUKU (thinking):

It can't be… right? Andrew's smart, but he wouldn't—he couldn't—

He shakes his head.

IZUKU (aloud):

"You ever think Spider-Man's… just a kid?"

ANDREW (over his shoulder, almost too quick):

"Maybe. Wouldn't be the craziest thing."

Izuku narrows his eyes. Andrew drinks from his glass, cool as ever.

IZUKU (thinking):

There's no way. He's just my brother. Just… Andrew. He, would tell me if he somehow gained powers we both quirkless

Still, the doubt lingers. The pieces haven't quite clicked—but they're there, on the board.
