Chapter 4427: Character Seen Through Arrangement
Lin Moyu saw the giant pit left from when the West Pole Supreme took the clear soul stones; from the outside, there was still no shortage of clear soul stone present.
There were many cultivators outside the pit, but not a single one entered the pit to take any stones.
After observing for a while, Lin Moyu noticed something unusual: apart from the aura of clear soul stone, there was another power in the pit.
Although that power seemed weak, it was actually extremely strong, akin to a thin membrane covering the pit.
"Only officials can set fires, not commoners light lamps, huh!"
Lin Moyu smirked inwardly this power came from the West Pole Supreme, ensuring that no one else could take clear soul stones from the pit.
Anyone who tried to forcibly enter would be attacked by the West Pole Supreme.
In the west pole, the Supreme was absolute anyone provoking him was courting death.
Surely, the Supreme had his reasons for such an arrangement.
As he traveled through the west pole, Lin Moyu found the locals were rarely contentious, seeming almost without desires.
This, he guessed, had as much to do with the environment as with the influence of the Supreme.
Around the pit, many cultivators had staked out territory. The clear soul stone's aura was thick here much stronger than outside the teleport formations.
Lin Moyu watched for a while and was about to leave, when a rumble echoed through his soul.
The clear soul stone's invisible aura suddenly whirled violently the gentle breeze became a soul scouring gale.
His soul shivered in the cold, then immediately felt a surge of agitation.
Lin Moyu quickly calmed his thoughts, regaining stability.
Around the pit, cultivators' faces twisted in pain as they endured some kind of torment.
When any power is pushed to its limit, it transforms clear soul stone's calm became a frenzy.
Its aura usually calms the soul, clarifies thoughts, and aids Dao comprehension.
But this surge sparked agitation those gathered were clearly struggling against it, their souls falling into unrest.
The effect varied from person to person. Some with firm Dao hearts resisted, but those with less stable minds soon showed madness on their faces.
"Ah!"
A roar shattered the silence as someone succumbed, falling into a frenzy.
His eyes went blood red, all reason lost
but the instant he screamed, a giant hand appeared from the pit and slapped him away.
He flew hundreds of miles, coughing blood and covered in wounds.
But the blow also shattered the restlessness in his soul.
He bowed to the pit, then turned and left.
One after another, shouts rang out each time, the hand struck the mad cultivator away and peace was restored.
Each ejected person bowed to the pit and left.
In an instant, a third of the crowded spaces around the pit were emptied, making room for newcomers.
Lin Moyu observed the whole process and began to understand.
After taking the clear soul stones, the West Pole Supreme had manipulated the aura, compressing it until it changed in quality from calming to maddening, and then let it explode outward.
Those whose Dao hearts were unstable and succumbed to the frenzy were knocked out by the Supreme's hand essentially, they'd failed the test and lost the right to cultivate here, at least for now.
It was unclear if the restriction was permanent or temporary.
Through repeated rounds of this, only the cultivators with the firmest Dao hearts remained the true talents.
For cultivation, Dao heart is crucial, perhaps even more than talent.
If one's Dao heart is unwavering, great achievement is inevitable.
"The West Pole Supreme is selecting heaven's true geniuses what a gentle but effective method."
Lin Moyu thought to himself through this arrangement, the Supreme revealed himself as a gentle and calm person, otherwise he wouldn't have chosen this method.
Even without meeting him, Lin Moyu already had a sense of who the Supreme was.
He continued wandering the Pure Land, noting the differences between its various regions.
Over the next few months, he found several other large pits, all left from where the Supreme took clear soul stones, all arranged the same way.
Each became a cultivation paradise and a trial for Dao hearts.
By the sixth year since entering, he had walked a full circle around the Pure Land's outer regions.
In that time, he'd witnessed billions of beings here just the outer rim!
Surely, deeper in, the numbers would be even greater.
… (requesting flowers) …
But no tribe lived here they were only here for cultivation, not to settle, nor to lay claim to land.
The Pure Land's many zones each had unique effects suiting various types of cultivation.
Overall, it truly was a colossal blessed land.
"I have a pot of clear tea fellow Daoist, may I invite you for a taste?"
Suddenly, a voice sounded beside him. Lin Moyu looked down and saw someone sitting on a great stone, brewing tea.
This man's eyes were cold and solitary typical of West Pole folk, nothing unusual.
His tone was gentle and he gazed at Lin Moyu with calm.
He was human, at Chaos Great Completion cultivation. In this place, that ranked among the very top.
Through all these years, most cultivators here weren't even in the Chaos Realm; even Dao Master and pre Dao Master cultivators were everywhere.
Now and then a Chaos Realm cultivator would pass by, always heading to deeper layers.
To find a Chaos Great Completion expert sitting here, brewing tea, was strange indeed.
Lin Moyu drifted down and bowed: "Lin greets you, fellow Daoist."
The man gestured, "I am Xingquan. No need for formality; please, sit."
Lin Moyu asked, "What brings Daoist Xing to seek me?"
Xingquan smiled. "Nothing in particular. I saw you enter the Pure Land six years ago, and now have seen you circle around a rare coincidence.
So I thought, why not invite you for a cup of tea?"
"It must have taken you six years to circle the Pure Land."
Lin Moyu raised his brows in caution.
Xingquan hurried to explain, "Don't misunderstand, I wasn't following you. When I first entered the Pure Land, I circled it too took me about six years as well.
Seeing you now reminds me of myself back then."
"As you know, we West Pole people aren't fond of socializing I just wanted to share tea as a small token of fate."
Lin Moyu heard no falsehood, so his tension faded: "Indeed, it must be fate. This is my first time in the Pure Land, and I'm very curious about it."
Xingquan replied, "The Pure Land is our origin. Any West Pole native would be curious that's only natural.
When you arrived, did you feel as if a traveler had finally returned home?"
