Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven

While the Stark boys focused on their training, Karlon's plans for the North continued to unfold. The rebuilding of Moat Cailin was well underway, and the construction of watchtowers along the coasts had begun. The North was becoming more fortified and connected, its people united by a shared vision of progress.

Rebuilding Moat Cailin:

The reconstruction of Moat Cailin, the ancient fortress guarding the Neck, was a monumental undertaking that symbolized Karlon's commitment to fortifying the North's defenses. Karlon oversaw every detail of the project, from architectural plans to resource allocation. He leveraged his knowledge of engineering and architecture to design a fortress that would be both impregnable and strategically advantageous.

Karlon's designs incorporated innovative features, including reinforced walls, hidden passages, and elevated vantage points. He ensured that Moat Cailin could withstand sieges, repel invaders, and control the vital passage between the North and the rest of Westeros. As the fortress began to rise from the ruins, the people of the North witnessed Karlon's determination and dedication firsthand.

Building Watchtowers and canals.

Karlon's plans extended beyond Moat Cailin. He initiated the construction of watchtowers along the North's coasts such , creating a network of beacons that could alert the region to potential threats from the sea. The watchtowers served as symbols of vigilance and unity, reinforcing the idea that the North stood strong and united against any adversary.

Due to wanting to prevent the growth of the Manderly's even if they are one of the loyal houses I would need to commission a main canal that is going to be from Torhen's square to White Knife there would be watchtowers and lighthouses for easier trade he would also need to find a way to crete a canal that would pass through Moat Cailin this would make it a bigger trade hub due to cutting up the distance it takes to circle to the west coast.

Economic Development and Infrastructure:

Karlon's forward-thinking approach extended to economic development. He introduced new crops such as that could thrive in the North's harsh climate, ensuring a more stable food supply. He encouraged trade and commerce within the region, supporting the growth of markets and trade routes. The North's economy flourished under his guidance, leading to increased prosperity for its people.·

Karlon thought of using the four- field crop rotation system that would consist of crops such as , barley, turnips and clover. The Barley will be used for fodder and brewing of beer and will be manned by House Cerywn while wheat that can be used for bread and also manufacture beer which will be manned by House Umber. The clover will be given to House Glover primarily. the turnips will be given to House Hornwood. Rice will e given to House Reed as the swamps provide a place to grow it.

Looking into that he though of improving the animal husbandry. Through the use of turnips and the cloves it will help in keeping soil yields up hence allowing for more animal byproducts such as milk, cheese wool and more meat. With selective breeding, he can select for hardier animals who can better survive the winter. He also thought of breeding horses from the Dothraki steeds and the Dornish Horses which will bring in faster and hardier steeds for during times of war. this could be primarily headed by House Ryswell.

Most houses near forests could build up sawmills for the timber to sell which used for making ships, castles. Karlon's plans also included the improvement of infrastructure. He developed a plan to repair and expand roads, he would first develop the Kingsroad. From then he will make roads that connected to towns such as from Moat Cailin to Barrowtown to the Rills to the mouth of the Stony Shore River which would boost trade significantly .The second road will go from Moat Cailin to White Harbor to Ramsgate to the mouth of the last River. This roads will be among the major roads apart from the Kingsroad connecting the West Coast and East Coast if we managed to make the canal of White harbor. Each port will need a bridge which will enable us to earn money through taxes. This ensured a way to make , making travel and communication more efficient. Bridges would be constructed, linking previously isolated communities and facilitating the movement of goods and people.

Commissioning of Roads will lead to creating of major cities and towns. These cities would be the town near Moat Cailin, Winterfell, Barrowtown, Torrhen's Square, etc. He would need to make plans for the cities to avoid the horror that is Kings landing due to no proper sewage pipes.

After making the plans, he thought of when to inform his Uncle and Thought of a plan to first try out the uses in Winterfell and through the sale of the glass produced they will each give the Northern Houses 4 greenhouses. He agreed to inform them of his plans in the evening after supper.
