Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Sai Reschelburg had a secret.

He had memories of a past life.

In that past life, he had been born in a world called Earth. In that life, he had dedicated everything he had to martial arts in an attempt to become the strongest. But he died before he could fulfill that goal.

And by some miracle, he was reincarnated in another world.

The world Sai was reincarnated into had something his previous world did not. Magic.

In this world, warriors could leap countless meters in a single jump, slash apart mountains with a single blade, and destroy entire countries single-handedly.

Sai discovered this when he was only a couple of months old.

And he made his decision.

He would become the strongest there ever was.

But…

"Healing magic."

A man in a white coat removed a device from Sai's chest and spoke to his parents.

At that moment, Sai was two years old. From what he could observe, his parents were nobles. It seemed that this nation followed an aristocratic system.

His parents were duke-ranked. A little close to the top. Perhaps a little too close for his liking.

Which meant Sai was afforded quite the comfortable life.

"Any other hidden attributes?" his father, Aris Reschelburg, asked the man.

The man shook his head.

"I checked properly. All his mana is directed toward healing."

"I see."

Aris lowered his head slightly. Sai then turned to his mother, Rachel Reschelburg.

"Mother, what does that mean?"

Despite having been in this world for a couple of years, Sai had not gathered much information about magic.

"It means you will be able to become a really amazing healer." She smiled at him and pinched his cheeks.

Sai already knew that much, but that was not what he wanted to know.

"Can I become a warrior?"

As soon as those words left his mouth, the room fell silent.

And it was then that Sai realized the answer.

"No, you can't."

His father spoke sharply. Sai's mother glared at him—or at least Sai thought she did, because his sight was starting to blur as water dripped from his eyes and onto his lap.

"Aris!"

His mother opened her mouth to speak to his father, but Sai shook his head.

"It's okay. He was just telling me the truth," Sai said between sniffles as he tried to hold back the tears threatening to return.

"Mu…"

His mother looked at him and sighed before turning to face the doctor.

"Are you sure you didn't miss something? Even healers nowadays can use physical strengthening."

The doctor shook his head.

"I checked properly. All his abilities are directed toward healing. As if to make up for that, he was born with an abnormal amount of mana. But all he would be able to do is use it to heal."

The doctor's words caused the last bit of hope his parents had to fade.

"Well, he would make an amazing healer. The likes of which this world has never seen before."

The doctor stood up.

"He will leave his mark in history, even more so than those warriors. Take pride in your strength."

He directed the last part toward Sai.

Sai nodded and forced out a response.

Night fell, and Sai lay in a bed that was a little too luxurious for a two-year-old.

"Healing magic."

He raised his chubby hand, looked at it for a moment, and made a fist.

"That doesn't sound too bad."

He lowered his hand and covered his face with his other arm.

"But still…"

Frustration filled his chest, and it seeped out in the form of tears that dampened the bed.

"I want to be a warrior."

To this day, Sai still did not know the reason why he wanted to be a warrior.

Maybe it was because they were cool. It had started out as one of those ridiculous dreams children often had.

Wanting to be a hero of justice. Wanting to pilot a mech. Wanting to defeat bad guys and the like.

That was what it had been for him.

And yet, even as he grew older, the dream had stayed with him for unknown reasons.

So he pursued it and became a warrior.

He won countless tournaments in his previous world and defeated numerous opponents. Yet it always felt like something was missing.

Maybe it was because he knew that was not his limit. He could become even stronger.

But the physical body could only endure so much stress and damage.

"Maybe this is actually a chance."

An idea struck him. Sai lifted himself from the bed and sat on the edge.

"I don't know the specifics behind healing magic, but if it works the way I think it does…"

He clenched his hand and raised it toward the ceiling.

"Become the strongest."

"With my healing magic, I will reach the peak and do it."

At an age far too young for such a declaration, a certain boy swore a path for himself under the moonlit sky.

The Magic Realm.

A world in which almost all of its inhabitants possessed some form of magic.

The ability to control water. The ability to manipulate animals. The ability to create a poison that could kill even the laws of the world. The ability to travel through time.

In this world, supernatural existences were everywhere, and countless legends were real.

And it was in this world that a boy from another world would overturn their very beliefs on their heads.

In this world of magic, Sai Reschelburg would become the unquestioned strongest.

This was the tale of history's strongest healer.
