Chapter Lead Serialization・Monstrous Blade III・Shiryu of the Rain
Svor hung his head in shame, the firelight casting the tall swordsman's face into sharp relief. A thick cigar was clamped in his mouth as he sheathed a long blade glowing with an eerie, demonic light.
…
"Now that you mention it, I am getting hungry."
Liam waved a big hand and called her over to search for the green Den Den Mushi.
"Let me tell you, you have no idea how good my acting was in front of the elders of Koala Village…"
Fool… I've long since found something more important than my dreams…
Robin listened to Liam's chatter, thinking this to herself, as they located the little green creature and swiftly entered its internal City Fortress.
Next to B.I.B. lay a Pose device aimed at a resort island. Like an emotionless tool, it followed the pull of the magnetic current, steadily moving toward the venue of the World's Strongest Swordsman Tournament.
The JOJO Pirate Ship cruised forward on the Grand Line.
Suddenly, violent winds, towering waves appeared in their location.
Inside the Den Den Mushi's City Fortress, Robin, having returned to her usual form, personally cooked up a feast of exotic new dishes, which Liam devoured with gusto.
Storms and Thunder replaced the previous weather instantly.
In the cabin, B.I.B. manned the helm with precision and tirelessness, as steady as a veteran hound.
Moonlight danced on the calm sea surface, the night was misty and soft.
In the brightly lit living room of the City Fortress, Liam was sprawled snoring on the couch. Robin lay with her head on his thigh, flipping through a book with one pair of arms while another pair gently set a cup down on the coffee table.
Clear skies stretched for miles!
The weather began to stabilize.
To any seasoned sailor on the Grand Line, this immediately signaled one thing: an island was nearby.
And most likely, it was a Spring Island or Summer Island, no other type could bring such pleasant and temperate seas.
Even the temperature of the sea breeze was just right, soft and mellow.
Liam and Robin climbed out of the little green Den Den Mushi's City Fortress.
Robin tucked the sleepy Den Den Mushi into her bag and walked with Liam to the bow of the ship, standing side by side as they gazed into the distance.
Thanks to the Magnet-Magnet Fruit, Liam could clearly sense a large, stable magnetic vortex slowly approaching just ahead.
That had to be the Resort Island.
"I can already see the outline," Robin said in a relaxed tone.
Liam licked his lips and muttered to himself, "The Swordsman Tournament, huh? Even though it's only in the First Half of the Grand Line, I bet a lot of strong guys will show up…"
With that thought, he turned back and called out,
"Come back here for a sec."
Hearing him, B.I.B. immediately let go of the helm and turned into a shadowy blur, gliding toward Liam at the bow.
The helm, now unmanned, spun wildly until a burst of flower petals erupted in front of it, coalescing into a clone of Robin who reached out and grabbed the helm, taking control.
This flower clone, created by Robin, took over the role of Liam's Stand at the wheel, continuing to steer the boat straight toward the Resort Island.
Right next to her, B.I.B. punched into Liam's chest and temporarily extracted the Magnet-Magnet Fruit chip, storing it safely in its own body.
Then, B.I.B. turned back into a black shadow and merged into Liam's now-closed body.
Robin reached out to touch Liam's arm and immediately felt the muscles suddenly tense and bulge. His entire body shuddered violently, the muscles twitching for a moment before gradually relaxing.
Robin recoiled instinctively, as if burned.
"Hoo…"
Liam opened his eyes and exhaled a burst of hot steam.
His trembling skin was flushed red, radiating intense heat, streams of white vapor rising from his body as he murmured something under his breath.
"Are you alright?" Robin asked with concern.
Liam replied in a low voice, "Hard to say…"
A bead of sweat rolled down Robin's forehead. Nervously, she asked, "What's wrong?"
"I'm more exhausted than before, but somehow… it feels kinda nice?" Liam stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Sis, does that mean something is wrong with me, or not?"
"…"
Robin sighed and pressed her palm hard against his big face. So annoying!
Suddenly, Liam grabbed her wrist tightly.
Robin immediately felt her feet leave the ground. The next moment, she was being dragged sideways, a sudden sense of weightlessness as they leapt into the air…
Startled, she simultaneously saw, through the eyes of her flower clone still steering in the ship's cabin, what had just happened on the bow of the ship:
Liam had made a teasing remark. She'd rolled her eyes and reached out to squish his big face. Liam's expression shifted, his face turned serious, and in a speed too fast for the flower clone to perceive, he snatched her wrist.
Before the flower clone could react, Liam had already pulled her aside in a sharp diagonal leap, snd at that very moment, the flower clone saw the sea ahead split cleanly apart. A slash like the dorsal fin of a hundred-meter-long Great Shark came slicing toward them at terrifying speed.
The flower clone's eyes widened in shock. Naturally, Robin, still in Liam's arms as they dodged, wore the exact same expression.
As Liam jumped, he used just the right touch of force with his feet. The rebound nearly kicked the relatively small JOJO Pirate Ship off its axis, making it swerve several meters sideways across the water.
The flower clone at the helm turned just in time to see the enormous slash tear through the side railing of the ship, narrowly missing,
Bang!
The massive slash roared past, carving a straight wound across the sea's surface.
Pa! Pa! Pa!
From above came sharp, cracking sounds, Liam, using Geppo, held Robin aloft in midair as they looked down at the sea, where the cleaved water was already filling back in from the surrounding waves.
The ocean churned; the JOJO Pirate Ship rocked a few times, but then gradually settled.
Still in Liam's arms, Robin turned back to glance at where the slash had come from, the resort island.
"That's still hundreds of meters away!" she said in shock. "How could a slash from that far carry such power…?"
A sudden drop!
It was Liam, jumping back onto the ship with her in his arms.
But he didn't stop. He reached into her bag, pulled out the green Den Den Mushi, pried open the dazed creature's mouth,
"Snap!" Quick and efficient.
He slapped the receiver down right onto the ship's railing,
BIU!
In an instant, the entire ship shrank and was absorbed into the Den Den Mushi's body using the Shiro Shiro no Mi (Castle-Castle Fruit).
Just before her flower clone steering in the cabin dissolved, it tossed the Log Pose for the resort island to Liam.
Pa! Pa! Pa!
Liam, still carrying Robin, used Geppo to step through the air, heading straight for the resort island.
"I need to find out which bastard has no sense of decency, flinging slashes across the ocean like that, ambushing people! Is that how it's supposed to be?!"
Meanwhile…
At the resort island's shore.
Crowds had gathered, but they'd cautiously left a huge open space.
Everyone was buzzing with excitement and tension as they watched the confrontation between two groups.
On one side stood several dozen people, radiating fierce presence. At the head of the group was a tall, slender female swordsman.
She wore a wide-brimmed formal hat, obscuring her face under the brim.
But what stood out the most was her long and astonishingly slender neck…
Facing them was a man in ornate clothing, wearing a black ceremonial hat with floral trim. He gently laid down his black longblade, casting a cold, cold glance at the opposing group.
