Although Chu Qiaoqiao insisted on giving him a ride, Jiang Ce thought it was too ostentatious and declined, heading downstairs by himself. Outside the Wendin International building, Zhuang Qiang was still waiting where Jiang Ce had left him, seemingly unable to process what had just happened.
Jiang Ce walked up and patted him on the shoulder, grinning. "It's scorching out here. Why aren't you in the guard room? Afraid you'll melt?"
Zhuang Qiang jumped, but when he saw it was Jiang Ce, he breathed a sigh of relief, which was quickly followed by a look of dejection.
"Jiang Ce, I've lost my job. I have no idea what to do next."
Jiang Ce was taken aback for a moment, then he remembered what Chen Lian had said before being thrown out. So that's it. Zhuang Qiang thinks *he's* the one who got fired. That explained why he was so downcast.
Jiang Ce burst out laughing. "My foolish brother, Chen Lian just lost his own job. His words aren't worth a damn."
