Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Alexandru rested silently. He barely breathed, as normal vampires would, when they slumber. His arms rested around her waist never wanting to let go of her. The moment he felt her shift and wake his eyes were open. He looked up to see his beloved woman on him. He smiled softly and leaned up to feel her lips so gently, "I do believe you have to announce that you may have regained your vision through diligent science and alchemy.. If they were to know the truth. They may find it a little too.. erm, revealing," He laughed softly, "mmm~. Good morning, my love"

She smiled and nuzzled close to him, holding him tightly as she nodded in agreement to his words, "You are right… Good morning, my love. I hope you had a good nights sleep. I don't know how you feel about sleeping on bed. I know I enjoy mine quite soft," She spoke softly, kissing him gently as she once again rested her head on his chest.

"I slept just fine, my darling. I'm just easy to wake" He admitted as he kissed her head. There was a moment of silence as he held her in his arms before he spoke, "... I had no clue that this would happen. I did it without asking. I'm so sorry." He sounded so shameful and saddened over his instinctive actions. He knows this was a good thing but he did not want to ruin what she had. He knew of her fears about the world and he knew that she was scared to see again.. Alex never felt this much shame, not even after killing his own father.

She shushed him with a kiss before she pulled away. Her nails traced his chest as she spoke, "Don't. I'm glad this happened. I'm glad you did it… As scared as I am…I get to see the world again, with you in it now… And that's-.. that's good enough for me. I'm glad I can see the handsome vampire who saved my life."

His lips immediately embraced hers as he used it to stop himself from crying. Her words rung in his head. She was so perfect. He could not have been so blind. Why did he only realized how much he loved her last night? Leilania was everything he needed and more.

He broke the kiss and smiled. "Chances are, your guards are desperate to know that you are okay right now," Alex giggled, "It would probably be best to get dressed and make my announcement as soon as possible," He helped her up. Due to the healing process she did not feel sore in the slightest, neither did he.

She whines softly, like an adorable and clingy bride, to-be, "I do not wish to leave you. Ugh!" she slouched her head down in defeat, "But it must be done to help our cause, I know," She wrapped herself in a robe, kissed him and left to go bathe. Alex gave a soft smile to her as he watched her leave, before he then got dressed.

Once she was clean and dressed she called forth the kingdom. She approached the out set balcony for which she could speak upon. The land had a crowd who looked up to her for the dewy morning was the morning that had the princess speak for the kingdom. They all watched and listened as she spoke, "My people! Your princess has news! Regardless of your opinions… It is dire. If you were not aware, the young prince of the Vampires came to our kingdom not but a few days ago. Unfortunately, his time spent talking of peace and prosperity for both our kingdoms was short lived…" This is where she knew she had to bend the truth slightly to get them to talk, but for all she knew if could have been her, they were after, "One of our own was upset with how I took in the prince to try to put the corruption behind us. So upset… That an assassination attempt was made on my own life. The Vampire Prince saved me, but unfortunately, he took the attack in my stead. Before he passed, he worked with my Druids to give me back my sight! One of our own! Attacking your blind princess! And an outsider! Risked his life To try and right the wrongs of what his father did. My people… The young good hearted Vampire Prince… is dead…"

The crowd built more, and more murmurs were heard between her pauses. Through the shuffled murmurs, there were singular cheers to the grave news while others would gasp in shock and horror. The news of the century lasting war being ended by the Vampire Prince was sketchy to some eyes. His death from the people sounded far more plausible to some. However, the majority clearly found this sudden news dreadful and horrifying, as they realized they're beloved princess was in harms way.

Serenity Thelvon was in the crowd. The brown haired woman with emerald eyes watched in horror with dread in shame on her face. She wore a simple pale and peachy dress as she watched her princess mourn over the short lived peace.

Queen Leilania continued, "The prince made me his queen in his last moments… So, to those who thought his death would mean the end of his people, are wrong. We will be working with his ambassadors to merge the two kingdoms… I do not want his people to suffer for my selfish actions…" making herself seem like she blamed herself would get more sympathy, "They have been fully committed to animal blood since the war due to prince's laws. This will not change that. I-I just…" She began to weep, as her voice echoed, "Why? Why would he save me? He at least could have... My people, I am sorry…I had done nothing to help you since the war. I am not fit to be your or anyone's queen."

The crowd seemed a little more restless and more horrified at such sudden news. This information was way too sudden for her people. Elders screamed in horror as the younger crowd bantered back and forth confused with such sudden information relayed to them. A majority actually seemed to agree with her final words, while the rest chanted the word "fool" at her in their elven tongue. Serenity however watched in guilt and fear, unsure what to do with this new information.

She rushed away 'sobbing' as let the words sink in for her people. She knew she may have caused a little mayhem but she mixed in more truth. As the new queen, her people were going to have to co-exist. One of the guards took her place and continued to speak for her, "The poison used in the assassination attempt against the princess and the cause of death of the young lord was a poison that was supposed to be destroyed. We are concerned that this individual may cause harm to their friends and Or neighbors. If anyone has been recently injured and has experienced nausea, sensitivity to sunlight, drastic change in personality, etc. please come seek the Druids inside, we will get you tested and treated. We apologize for the inconvenience, may the Tree Father guide us in these uncertain times."

Alexandru was cleaned and dressed back in his armor and clothes his hair dry and cleaned as he rested slightly in her room. Her smell was intoxicating at this point as he waited patiently for her return however he started hearing a crowd chanting outside the tree within the land. Alex was a little worried she may have overdone her job. He sighed, figured she really likes making choices without him. He chuckled lightly at the thought before he remained silent and waited for his queens return.

She came back in and sighed, wiping her tears away, "I-uh. May have overdone it…But! I did it on purpose. I wanted to see how my people would react to such things… I guess it showed me how much most people feel I shouldn't rule at all… I'm sure they wish that I had died, instead of my father… However the seeds have been planted… Now we wait for the bloom."

Alex listened quietly as he got up and approached her to hold her gently. His eyes were locked on her as he listened but he simply spoke, "Well, to their defense, you just lied to them," He teased rubbing her elbows softly, "But yeah, I may have heard some of it. My people will never co-exist in your land. That's a fact. This place runs on magic from the sun that is absorbed through the great tree. They would be obliterated simply walking through the gates. The reason my father could wage war hear was because his warlocks casted a dark cloud over the town... but.. either way this will stir the pot and hopefully have someone confess," He said softly wanting to support her action.

She smiled and shrugged softly, "It's a little lie they won't let me forget but it's for the good of the grove. I just hope everything will work out in the end and my people can forgive me for this minor deception," She held him tightly, trying her best to hide how much their opinion actually bugged her.

Alex kissed her cheek and smiled. He was about to speak, but the door was suddenly knocked as a guard spoke on the other sude of it, "Queen Leilania. Someone requests your presence. They are the alchemist, Serenity Thelvon. She says she has information regarding the arrow and the Prince's demise." The words were slightly muffled through the door but the look of disappointment and sorrow on Alexandru's face showed just how much he did not want this to be the outcome. The remaining member of his family was the one who made an attempt on his life.
