Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Boss, setting up a stall is a waste of your talent!

Selling braised pork was much more relaxing than selling rice combo sets. Jiang Feng had more time to rest. He would occasionally watch the tourists around him or play with Little Black. The little guy was especially clever.

"Little Black, sit." Jiang Feng taught it to sit. After a few lessons, the little guy understood Jiang Feng's instructions and would sit when told.

The aroma of the braised pork drifted in all directions, attracting the nearby tourists. Shuize Resort was primarily styled as a large farm, complete with cows, sheep, and even some sika deer. The environment was exceptionally pleasant, and hungry tourists visiting the resort would always look for a snack.

Before long, another couple approached to check the food truck's price list.

"Boss, give us two eggs." They didn't spend much, just purchasing two eggs.

Jiang Feng cheerfully scooped out two eggs, placed them in a plastic bag, and handed them over.

To him, anyone who spent money was a customer. As long as they were happy eating, that was all that mattered.

After receiving the eggs, the couple immediately started eating them, one each. The eggs had been stewed thoroughly, their shells turned deep red, the rich broth having fully infused the egg. One bite, and the rich sauce immediately filled their mouths.

"Wow, this is so tasty!" the woman exclaimed in amazement.

The man also found it delicious. Glancing at the other delicacies stewing in the pot, he immediately added, "Boss, give us a pig trotter and two more eggs."

"Sure thing!" Jiang Feng responded.

The braised meat business was doing well, with a steady stream of customers. Every now and then, Jiang Feng would check the progress of the God of Cookery System's mission. The more meat he sold, the smoother his mission progress became.

「Meanwhile, outside the resort.」

Several Hongshan Park residents arrived at Shuize Resort and went directly to find Liu Wu, the resort's manager.

"Is there a vendor here selling rice combo sets? He's a young man, looks quite handsome, and cooks them really well," one resident asked. "We want to find him," they explained.

Liu Wu was a bit confused by their question. "Someone selling rice combo sets?" He shook his head. "I know all the vendors in the resort, and none of them sell rice combo sets. Besides, who sets up a stall to sell those? That's something you find in restaurants. Preparing rice combo sets is too much trouble."

The residents immediately asked, "So, no one is selling rice combo sets?"

"I guarantee it, absolutely not. You can go inside and check," Liu Wu added.

The group of people looked at each other, puzzled. They had come specifically for Jiang Feng's cooking. A good chef was really hard to come by.

After exchanging glances, Ma San, one of the middle-aged men, said, "Forget it. If we can't find him, let's just eat something in the village. It's noon anyway, time for lunch!"

The others immediately responded, "Alright, let's stay in the resort, find a small stall, and eat whatever."

The group then turned and left the service center.

Liu Wu watched them go, muttering to himself, That's really strange. Someone actually came here looking for rice combo sets. Who sets up a stall to sell that?

Ma San and his companions walked on. As they did, they suddenly caught a whiff of a meaty aroma that tantalizingly tickled their nostrils.

"What's that smell? It's so fragrant!" one of them exclaimed.

"It smells like stewed meat, but these spices are quite remarkable," another person echoed.

"Let's give it a try!" Ma San chimed in.

The group continued forward and, before long, saw a queue of five or six people in front of a food truck not far away, buying meat.

The group was momentarily stunned. Why did that food truck look so familiar? It was designed like a light-colored small bus, with a window on the side that could be opened for direct service. It looked identical to the food truck the young man selling rice combo sets in Hongshan Park used.

"Look at that food truck! It looks just like Executive Chef Jiang's!" one of them exclaimed.

"You're right, it really does look like his!"

"It's not just similar, it *is* him! Look, he's right there in the truck!"

"Oh my gosh, it really is him! Come on, let's hurry and get in line! We'll miss out if we're late!"

The group hurriedly made their way over. As they got closer, the fragrance became increasingly rich. It seemed the meaty aroma they had smelled earlier was wafting from the food truck. Only when they looked at the truck did they realize that Jiang Feng wasn't selling rice combo sets today, but braised meat.

"Why is he selling braised meat?" Ma San was a bit surprised.

"So this aroma is from Executive Chef Jiang's cooking! No wonder it's so fragrant!" a companion beside him said.

"Let's try the braised meat; it's bound to taste good."

"Maybe he switched because selling rice combo sets wasn't very profitable. Think about it—Executive Chef Jiang sold so many rice combo sets a day, but he didn't really make much money."

"We were lucky to eat his food for a few days. I'll recommend him to a friend of mine who owns a restaurant; he could be their head chef."

The group queued up. They didn't realize that Jiang Feng had no concerns about business or his livelihood. To gain customer satisfaction, the God of Cookery System's task rewards were incredibly generous. The current Jiang Feng was, in fact, a millionaire.

Soon, the group made it to the front of the line. Ma San said to Jiang Feng, "Executive Chef Jiang, how come you've set up your stall here at the resort? Many people were looking for you in Hongshan Park this morning. Without you there, our morning meals just weren't the same."

Jiang Feng looked up. He recognized Ma San and, hearing his words, realized he had come from Hongshan Park.

Jiang Feng replied politely, "The location where I set up my stall isn't fixed. This week it's at the resort; next week I might go somewhere else."

Hearing Jiang Feng's words, the group all nodded. In their minds, Jiang Feng was possibly on a spiritual journey, experiencing different customers at different places, witnessing different landscapes. Such a profound state of mind was truly beyond ordinary people!

They didn't know that Jiang Feng's reason for changing locations each week had nothing to do with any kind of spiritual journey but was purely about completing tasks for money.

Ma San looked at the menu, which listed only braised meat. The thought of alcohol made his mouth water. "This braised meat is excellent, perfect to accompany a drink!" he said.

Hearing him, the other men in the group also felt like having a drink. So, they promptly placed an order, buying two pounds of large intestines, three pounds of pig trotters, three pounds of chicken feet, and five pounds of assorted vegetables—an extremely generous order.

Jiang Feng was naturally delighted. The task required him to sell 200 pounds of braised meat each day. This one order accounted for 13 pounds. A significant portion of the task was instantly completed.

Jiang Feng packed the braised meat for them and even gave them a few extra eggs. "You're regular customers, so these eggs are on me. My braised meat tastes best when it's hot; remember to heat it up when you eat it. The taste is definitely great," Jiang Feng told them after packing the braised meat into boxes.

"Sure!" Ma San responded readily.

"Executive Chef Jiang, when will you sell rice combo sets again? We still want to eat those! Even the city management officers came looking for you today!" a person beside Ma San asked.

Hearing this, Jiang Feng didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The city management officers looking for me? That doesn't sound good. But then again, for the past few days, the city management officers had been eating breakfast at my stall, and they were always polite. After all, I am a law-abiding young man!

"It's hard to say," Jiang Feng replied.

"Executive Chef Jiang, let me recommend a restaurant for you. Why don't you go there and be the head chef?" another person nearby chimed in. "With your skills, you'd be a top chef at any restaurant, and many customers would surely recognize you. A monthly salary of thirty thousand would be no problem at all."

Everyone meant well, but everyone has their own life to live.

Jiang Feng replied, "Thanks, but I'm used to running a stall. We'll talk about going to a restaurant later."

Hearing Jiang Feng's response, the group didn't press any further. Still, they felt it was a waste for someone with such incredible culinary skills to be merely a street food vendor.
