In the distance, the Tower of Night loomed like a lit lighthouse, a burning torch, shooting crimson light skyward, then dispersing and reflecting in the atmospheric ionosphere, rippling out like water waves, spreading dazzling red light across the heavens. A metallic scent blew through the air between heaven and earth.
In that wind, 044 roared,

Yellow Springs understood the gravity of the situation, took out a silver key, inserted it into the music box, and turned it half a turn counterclockwise, about to open the box when 044 caught her right wrist,

Yellow Springs gritted her teeth, nodded fiercely, and opened the music box.
