"If I were to approach Kaido with my perfected artificial Zoan fruits now, he'd probably kick Doflamingo aside in a heartbeat," Daniel Davis mused as he finalized the creation of the Zoan-type Devil Fruit from Incursio. Kaido, despite the flaws in Caesar's artificial fruits, still accepted them without hesitation. If Kaido had access to Daniel's near-perfect versions, it would be a whole new ballgame.
Even with all the drawbacks, Kaido's Beast Army held significant power. To the lowest-ranking pirates, the chance to eat a fruit, despite the risks, was a gamble worth taking. They craved the chance to escape their miserable lot in life, to drink, feast, and surround themselves with women. The lowest ranks of pirate crews were ruthlessly exploited and oppressed. Especially within larger pirate groups, the hierarchy was brutal—far worse than the navy's rigid structure. For pirates, there was only one way to climb the ranks: strength.
"I never thought Esdeath would set her sights on the Ice-Ice Fruit. If she reaches an admiral-level strength and uses her time-freezing technique, she might actually stand a chance against Aokiji," Daniel sighed, contemplating her ambition. It was a goal for the distant future, but it wasn't entirely out of reach.
"You're really leaving everything to Najenda? Handing her all that power?" Chelsea asked casually as she poured tea for Daniel in the palace garden, but her question was pointed.
"Najenda sent you to ask that, didn't she?" Daniel smiled knowingly before Chelsea could reply. "There's no need for tests. I chose her because I believe in her ability to govern. To be honest, I'm just passing through this world."
After a pause, Daniel decided to tell Chelsea more about his broader plans. She had become a reliable personal maid, making Daniel even consider bringing her along when he left this world. Unlike Leone, Mine, and others from Night Raid, Chelsea had no deep attachments in this world. Thanks to Daniel's involvement, she didn't have as strong a bond with Najenda or the others. Her willingness to ask questions on Najenda's behalf was likely just due to their shared past in the same faction.
"Other worlds..." Chelsea froze for a moment after hearing Daniel's explanation. It took a while for her to process what he said.
"That's right. The reason Esdeath is cooperating with me is because I promised to take her to a world full of strong warriors. Once everything here is settled, we'll leave, only returning occasionally," Daniel explained.
"Are you saying you don't plan to take me with you? I'm your personal maid, after all. Would you really leave me behind?" Chelsea said, jumping up and playfully clinging to Daniel's arm, her tone almost flirtatious.
"You want to come with me? The empire is peaceful now. You could easily live the life you want here. There's no need to leave with me," Daniel replied.
"Now that I know about other worlds, how could I not be curious? Besides, you said we could come back, right?" Chelsea grinned.
"Alright. Just tie up loose ends here," Daniel nodded, already having considered taking Chelsea with him.
"Are you only taking Esdeath? No one else?" Chelsea continued, curious.
"Next, I'll see if Akame wants to come along. If she does, Kurome will likely come too. But since I've already decided to bring you, adding Kurome won't be a problem."
"Taking both sisters, huh? Didn't think that's what you were into," Chelsea teased with a smirk.
"Don't make assumptions. I have a girlfriend. The reason I chose Esdeath and Akame is because they have incredible potential. Staying in this world would be a waste of their talent. In the other world, they'll become even stronger."
With Akame's potential, Daniel thought she could become a powerful swordmaster like the greatest warriors of One Piece.
"The Eastern Army has finally surrendered. The empire is now truly at peace," Daniel said as the news of Will's diplomatic success came in. The Eastern Army had surrendered to the new empire, seeing the tides turn. It wasn't Esdeath who received the Eastern Army's general but Najenda, as Esdeath had gone to the southern seas to deal with the pirates plaguing the Southern Isles. Since Daniel and Esdeath planned to leave soon, they wanted to eliminate as many threats to the empire as possible before their departure.
While Esdeath was taking care of the pirates, Daniel was setting up trading networks to ensure the empire could procure the necessary herbs and materials even after his departure.
"Alright, everything is in place. It's time for us to leave," Daniel announced after finishing his preparations and convincing Akame and Kurome to join him. The sisters were easy to persuade; as long as they stayed together, it didn't matter where they went. With the empire stable and no need for Night Raid anymore, Akame was also eager to explore. In the original story, she had sailed away after the revolution. This time, she would simply travel farther.
"Other worlds... I'd love to see them one day," Najenda said, intrigued by the idea of traveling beyond her reality. But her responsibilities to the new empire kept her anchored.
Leone, too, expressed a desire to join Daniel after she wrapped up her work. Daniel had no objections to her future plans.
Unlike in the Marvel or Hunter x Hunter worlds, Daniel didn't mind revealing his ability to travel between worlds in the Akame ga Kill universe.
"One day, for sure," Daniel promised before leaving with Esdeath, Chelsea, Akame, and Kurome for the One Piece world.
"Welcome back, sir," greeted a little girl in a red dress as Daniel and his companions materialized at a base in the Calm Belt of the One Piece world. It was Red Queen, the AI he had stationed here.
"Upload this data to the server," Daniel ordered, handing over the data from his portable lab for Red Queen to integrate with his main research repository. While the Marvel world was too dangerous to store all his research, he had bases in both the One Piece world and the Attack on Titan world, where his accumulated knowledge was safely stored.
The latest addition to his research? Everything he had learned about the imperial weapons.
"So, this is another world?" Esdeath, Chelsea, Akame, and Kurome looked around curiously at the island base, and especially at the red-dressed girl who had greeted them.
"Yes, Red Queen, record their profiles and provide them with an overview of this world," Daniel instructed.
"Understood," Red Queen replied, immediately projecting a massive holographic map. It was an updated version Daniel had pieced together from various sources, detailing the political and territorial dynamics of the One Piece world.
"Celestial Dragons? People like that actually exist?" Chelsea and Akame's expressions darkened when they heard about the Celestial Dragons, the oppressive ruling class even more tyrannical than the nobles of the empire. Esdeath and Kurome, however, were unmoved.
"Let's discuss that later. Finish listening to Red Queen's briefing," Daniel said, calming them down.
Red Queen then detailed the power structure of the One Piece world, including the categories of Devil Fruits, and showed holographic footage of the world's strongest warriors in action. Even Esdeath, who had some prior knowledge, was visibly stunned by the sheer scale of the battles.
"Now that you have the basic idea, let me explain my position here. Officially, I'm one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea," Daniel told them once the presentation ended.
"Esdeath, Akame, if you want to act freely here, my only requirement is that you master all three types of Haki." True strength in the One Piece world wasn't something you could gain from isolated training; Esdeath and Akame would need to go out to sea and test themselves in real battles.
"I'll fight alongside my sister!" Kurome stood up, determined after seeing that Daniel hadn't mentioned her.
"That's fine, but you must also master Haki first," Daniel replied. Though he mentioned "three types of Haki," he mainly meant Observation and Armament Haki, as Conqueror's Haki depended on talent—something even he lacked.
"And what about me?" Chelsea asked.
"You can do whatever you like. However, I recommend staying here for about six months to greatly improve your physical abilities." Since Chelsea wasn't inclined towards combat, Daniel didn't push her to train. With Esdeath, Akame, Kurome, and Ada, Daniel's team was more than strong enough.
"Before you begin training, I have a breathing technique for you all to learn," Daniel added, distributing the breathing techniques from Demon Slayer for them to practice.
"This is interesting!" The four women started their training, while Red Queen used holographic projections to teach them basic knowledge and skills.
The Akame ga Kill world had a low level of education. Among the four, Chelsea was the most literate, having learned during her time as a maid in the governor's mansion. Esdeath, Akame, and Kurome, on the other hand, had little to no formal education. Esdeath came from a tribal background, while Akame and Kurome were taken as children to be trained as assassins.
Esdeath, Akame, and Kurome weren't too interested in the lessons, but Chelsea was eager to learn.
"Oh? I thought there wouldn't be much news. So Blackbeard has finally made his move," Daniel smiled as he read the newspaper.
Blackbeard's actions were causing a stir across the seas. After all, it wasn't every day that someone betrayed
the Whitebeard Pirates. Had it been any other crew, it wouldn't have caused such an uproar.
While betrayal among pirates was frowned upon, the pirate world didn't follow strict rules. As long as Blackbeard was strong enough, he'd still attract followers. Despite his disgraceful act, as long as he survived and proved his strength, people would still flock to him.
Blackbeard had long stayed under the radar. Even though he'd scarred Red-Haired Shanks, few knew about it. But this betrayal had spread his name far and wide. Not only had he turned on Whitebeard, but he had also managed to survive.
"That news bird sure knows how to stir things up. But honestly, they could've done a better job. If we gave that reporter a crash course from the clickbait masters back home, they'd be a legend by now," Daniel chuckled at the overblown coverage. Though the article was exaggerated, it wasn't outlandish enough to impress him. He had seen far more outrageous headlines in his previous life.
If he were writing the headline, he'd go all out with claims of Blackbeard replacing Whitebeard as a new Yonko. Then again, maybe Morgans had considered it but held back. After all, Whitebeard was still a force to be reckoned with. Morgans wouldn't want to provoke him, just like he couldn't turn down an invitation from Big Mom to attend her tea party.
"Still in hiding in the New World, huh? Looks like it'll be a while before Blackbeard makes his way over here," Daniel noted. Currently, Blackbeard was on the run, and it wasn't just Ace pursuing him. Other strong forces in the New World and even the Marines were after him.
Although Blackbeard wasn't weak, there were limits to what one man could do. And unlike someone like Shanks, who had been fighting and growing stronger all along, Blackbeard had spent over a decade in hiding, suppressing his true strength. Without frequent life-and-death battles, he hadn't been able to hone his skills like the other Yonko.
Satisfied with the update, Daniel turned his attention back to his research, specifically the imperial weapon Shambhala. Just as he suspected, once outside the Akame ga Kill world, the teleportation weapon lost its function.
Unlike humans, who could adapt to new environments, tools like imperial weapons were bound to the rules of their original world. In contrast, wizards like Harry Potter could continue practicing spells in new worlds, refining their craft. But Shambhala had no such flexibility.
For others, this might have been a dead end, rendering Shambhala useless outside its home world. But Daniel had other plans. With access to the Eye of Agamotto and the Space Stone, restoring Shambhala's function wasn't impossible.
Even if he couldn't fully restore its original powers, Daniel still considered it a worthwhile pursuit. It had given him a better idea of how to manipulate his teleportation abilities with The Path of the Ancient One.
"If I use The Path of the Ancient One to teleport the Beast Pirates or Big Mom's crew right onto Mariejois, it'd be quite the spectacle."
Daniel chuckled, considering the possibilities. The idea of dropping an entire Yonko crew into the heart of the Celestial Dragons' domain was certainly tempting.
"Maybe I should figure out how to gather all the Yonko in one place..." Even a single Yonko crew couldn't topple the World Government. But if he could bring them all together? That would be another story entirely.
