However, unfortunately, Roko's guess was wrong. Satoru Gojo didn't dodge at all; he had been standing there the whole time. The reason he remained unharmed was because of his Limitless technique.
Many people know the name of Satoru Gojo's Limitless technique, but very few understand the exact abilities it grants. Even those who have fought him before would not understand unless Gojo explains it himself.
Because of this ability, Gojo rarely needs to dodge when fighting enemies—there's simply no need. It's similar to Uchiha Obito's Kamui, which allows him to phase out of attacks. Why dodge when you're already in an unbeatable position?
Though it may seem like Gojo is engulfed in flames in Roko's eyes, in reality, the flames are still quite far from his body under the Limitless technique. Even a millimeter of distance in this state is more than enough to protect him—though it might not be an infinite distance, it would be roughly equivalent to about a meter.
At this distance, even Roko, a special-grade curse, couldn't perceive it. Or rather, because he was a curse, he couldn't understand it. If he were human, he could have looked up relevant information, but curses don't do that. Their use of curse power is based on their innate instincts.
"Is this all you've got?" Gojo said, stepping out of the flames completely unscathed just as Roko was waiting to see him reduced to ash.
"Impossible! I clearly hit you!" Roko cried in disbelief, staring at Gojo, who was still perfectly fine.
"You didn't hit me," Gojo replied. "Don't believe me? Let me demonstrate."
He extended his right hand toward Roko, gesturing for him to come closer.
But Roko, no fool, wasn't about to approach Gojo recklessly.
"Don't worry, it's just a demonstration. Don't you want to know why?" Gojo said with a smile, motioning with his left hand for Roko to come closer.
Though Gojo's actions were suspicious, Roko, after some thought, decided to approach Gojo, extending his right hand to meet Gojo's outstretched palm. He was curious as to why his previous attack had had no effect.
"This is..." Roko's expression changed as his palm came within an inch of Gojo's, but for some reason, he couldn't close the distance. His eyes widened as he realized something was off.
"This is how it is. You didn't hit me," Gojo said, suddenly grabbing Roko's right hand. He then raised his right leg and kicked Roko in the face. The force of the blow, combined with Gojo's immense curse power, sent Roko flying backward. He crashed through dozens of trees and flew about 70 to 80 meters before landing heavily on the ground.
"Who are you? Why did you attack me?" Roko asked, still on the ground, struggling to get up.
"The one who's going to kill you," Gojo answered, appearing in front of Roko once again.
Roko, now on his feet, quickly retreated several meters. From the volcanic-like hole in his head, strange creatures began to emerge. Within moments, dozens of flying insect-like creatures surrounded him.
"Firestone Bugs," Roko muttered. He waved his hand, and the flying creatures darted toward Gojo like arrows, moving faster than the eye could follow.
Boom.
The insects halted in front of Gojo. One of them came within a hair's breadth of piercing Gojo's forehead, but that fraction of a distance was an insurmountable barrier due to the Limitless technique. Meanwhile, the ground behind Gojo was upheaved.
"Speed is power," as Kizaru always says. These insects were incredibly fast, and their power wasn't weak either. But unfortunately for them, they were up against Gojo's Limitless technique, which rendered their efforts useless.
"What's this?" Gojo wondered aloud as he observed the flying insects. Suddenly, their wings began to beat rapidly, and a strange sound filled the air around him. Then, the bugs began to expand.
Boom.
The insects exploded, and the resulting fireball once again engulfed Gojo.
"Sound, explosions—your abilities are impressive," Gojo said, unfazed, as his voice came from behind Roko's head. Roko felt an immense force slam into his skull, and his head was smashed into the ground.
"Damn it!" Roko cursed, as flames erupted around his body. But Gojo kicked him once more, sending him flying.
Roko, the special-grade curse born from humanity's fear of the earth, seemed like a child in front of Gojo. At this moment, Roko finally believed the judgment that was once made by Jogo.
"This is an opportunity," Gojo said, as he watched Roko, battered and bruised, lying by the water. It seemed like he had just remembered something, and in an instant, he flew into the air, disappearing from Roko's sight.
"Todou, come here."
"Gojo-sensei?" Yuji Itadori, still watching a movie in his room, froze when he saw Gojo's appearance. Before he could say anything more, Gojo grabbed his shoulder, and the two of them shot through the air, landing on a water surface in the blink of an eye.
To Yuji's surprise, both of them were floating on the water.
"Gojo-sensei, what's going on?" Yuji asked in astonishment, looking at himself standing on the water.
"Don't worry about it. The reason I brought you here is him."
Wanting to quickly increase his strength, Gojo believed nothing was faster than real combat, especially for someone like Yuji, who suddenly possessed powerful curse energy. While Roko was strong, Gojo was even stronger, and with Gojo's protection, he was confident he could keep Yuji safe.
Boom.
On the cursed high school's field, Megumi Fushiguro was knocked away by a blow from Maki Zen'in's staff. On the other side, Maki kicked Mai Zen'in, who was trying to attack her from behind, sending her flying.
"Let's go again, Panda. You join in this time."
After learning the breathing technique, Maki Zen'in's strength had grown rapidly. Her cursed body, which the jujutsu sorcerers saw as a curse, was, from another perspective, a blessing.
Had it not been for the fact that Toge Inumaki's cursed speech technique couldn't be used in this situation, Maki might have taken on all four of them.
Toge's cursed speech was a powerful technique that even required him to substitute food names for ordinary speech. This had caused him a lot of trouble as a child until he joined the Jujutsu High.
Daniel was also curious about Toge's cursed speech. If Toge had the curse power of someone like Gojo or Yuta Okkotsu, his cursed speech would be so powerful that even Gojo might not be able to handle it.
But sadly, he didn't have that level of power.
"If Megumi can't tame his final shikigami, he may end up being the weakest in the trio," Daniel thought. The trio of Fushiguro Megumi, Yuji Itadori, and Nobara Kugisaki was currently strongest with Megumi, but this could change as time went on.
Yuji Itadori, with his innate strength, might eventually surpass even Maki. Though not cursed like Maki's body, Yuji's pure strength was unmatched.
As for Nobara, her cursed technique, Straw Doll, allowed her to manipulate targets from a distance with nails and straw dolls, causing significant harm even to powerful curses. Even beings as powerful as Roko could be hurt by this technique.
Meanwhile, Megumi's Ten Shadows technique allowed him to summon ten shikigami. Unfortunately, many of them had been destroyed during his fight with the powerful curse, Sukuna.
Megumi's shikigami needed to be personally tamed before they could be fully controlled, but this also gave him a trump card—a last-resort move that could lead to mutual destruction.
When Sukuna had controlled Yuji's body, Megumi had been ready to summon his untamed shikigami, the Eight-Hands Sword-Slaying God, if necessary. Had he succeeded, Sukuna would have been defeated for sure.
The Eight-Hands Sword-Slaying God's power was so immense that it would have taken fifteen of Sukuna's fingers to deal with it.
This was also a testament to the power of Gojo, who had fought and drawn with the heads of the Zen'in and Gojo families a century ago, the battle ending in mutual destruction after Zen'in's head summoned the Eight-Hands God.
This was a multi-summoning ritual—although such untrained shikigami weren't fully under the sorcerer's control, they could still be used as a mutual destruction card.
Unfortunately, Sukuna defeated the Eight-Hands God with fifteen fingers, and even Gojo wasn't worried about facing a fully-powered Sukuna. The difference in power was obvious.
As he faced Maki's challenge, Megumi was also considering ways to increase his own strength. As a summoner, he needed to form hand seals to summon his shikigami, but he couldn't use weapons in this state.
However, there were cursed tools in the jujutsu world that could enhance one's strength. This special training session helped Megumi realize the importance of weapons, though there was the problem of how to carry them.
"Special cursed spirits," Gojo said
, looking at Megumi. "You're just as strong as someone like Yuta, though not as strong as someone like Ryoma. But you still have much to learn."
With that, Gojo dropped the mysterious words on his students' ears, making the training even more intense.
