Chapter 601 - Chapter 602: The End (Part 2)

When it comes to the debate over whether the soul or the body is more important, perspectives differ. From Kamar-Taj's teachings, the soul is prioritized. The Ancient One herself demonstrated this by healing her body through her soul and even achieving immortality by abandoning her physical form altogether. At her level, the soul becomes a vessel for eternal existence, rendering the body almost secondary.

Similarly, Mahito, with his mastery of Idle Transfiguration, holds the belief that the soul precedes the body, that the physical form is merely a reflection of the soul's shape. His cursed technique allows him to freely manipulate bodies and maintain his soul intact, no matter how much damage his physical body suffers, as it can always be restored under the guidance of his soul.

However, this doesn't mean that the body is insignificant or disposable. From Daniel Davis' perspective, the body holds equal importance. It can retain memories just as the soul does. This was evident with Toji Fushiguro, whose physical memory overwhelmed the soul of Sanbaiba's grandson, completely seizing control of the body.

The same principle applies to the fake Suguru Geto. Although he only controls Geto's body, he has access to Geto's memories and even his innate cursed technique. According to Jujutsu world logic, cursed techniques are inscribed in a sorcerer's body at birth. This explains why the imposter Geto can use the real Geto's abilities. However, Sukuna's case presents a peculiar contradiction. As a soul, Sukuna has no physical body, yet he retains his techniques and can even imprint them on Yuji Itadori.

Scientifically speaking, the DNA and cellular composition of humans are 99% identical, yet no two individuals are exactly alike. Even identical twins, who appear similar, can be distinguished upon closer examination. While science attributes this variance to the unknown 1%, the reality may be that the soul is the true factor that shapes individuality. Mahito's statement that "the body's form is influenced by the soul" isn't far from the truth.

Of course, exceptions and miracles exist. For Daniel, however, the question of whether the soul or body is more important is akin to the age-old dilemma of the chicken or the egg. These existential questions about the origins of life and the universe are not something he dwells on. After all, he's no philosopher. If the answers were truly necessary, he would rather ask entities like the Living Tribunal or the Five Cosmic Entities directly.

Daniel values both the soul and the body equally. This belief explains why he has refrained from replacing his own eyes with the Rinnegan or Obito's Mangekyo Sharingan. Of course, another reason is that his current strength is sufficient, rendering such enhancements unnecessary. He can afford to disregard these powerful ocular abilities for now.

The relationship between the soul and body is also evident in possession scenarios. For instance, the deities listed on the Investiture of the Gods had their souls bound to their new divine forms, but such processes can have limitations. In possession cases, the host body must often be in a blank state, such as that of an infant, to allow complete fusion without interference from physical memories.

At Kamar-Taj, although the soul is central to their practice, it doesn't mean they disregard the body. The Ancient One abandoned her body only as a last resort. Unlike Daniel, who has steadily progressed in his power, the Ancient One had no choice. To combat Dormammu, she relied on energy from the Dark Dimension, which gradually corroded her body. Her transition into a soul state was a necessity, not a preference.

Still, for someone like the Ancient One, the absence of a body hardly mattered. Should she desire it, she could always reincarnate into a new form.

"Hold him off! I'll exorcise Toji from my grandson's body!" Sanbaiba commanded, clutching her prayer beads as she furiously chanted incantations. Her voice carried desperation as she realized the dire situation she faced.

"Toji Fushiguro? I've always wanted to test myself against him," the old sorcerer beside her replied, his voice brimming with confidence. Unlike his fear of Gojo Satoru, who had utterly shattered his confidence in their past encounter, the old man felt more assured facing Toji.

This wasn't because he underestimated Toji's strength—he was well aware of his prowess. Instead, he trusted his own cursed technique, Strength Reversal, which allowed him to weaken any force that struck him. The technique could transform a blow capable of crushing walls into one that could barely dent tofu. This ability had been instrumental in his survival against Gojo in the past, though Gojo's current strength rendered such tricks useless.

"Just you?" Toji sneered at the old man, a cold smile spreading across his face. Without wasting time, he vanished from sight, reappearing in an instant next to the old man, delivering a punch aimed at his head.

Startled by Toji's speed, the old man barely managed to raise his right arm to block the attack, activating his Strength Reversal technique. His confidence lay in the fact that his technique worked best when the opponent was unaware of its mechanics. Revealing one's cursed technique could enhance its potency, but for techniques like his, secrecy was vital.

However, reality struck the old man like a sledgehammer—literally. A sickening crack echoed as his arm snapped under the force of Toji's punch. Before he could react, another blow crushed his skull, leaving him lifeless on the ground.

"How... how is this possible?" Sanbaiba stammered, her hands trembling as she watched her companion fall. The prayer beads slipped from her grasp, scattering across the ground.

The old man's technique had allowed him to escape death at Gojo's hands years ago, yet it failed against Toji in a single strike. The flaw of Strength Reversal lay in its upper limit. While it could weaken most attacks, it was useless against overwhelming force—like Toji's. In terms of raw physical strength, Toji was unmatched in the Jujutsu world, surpassing even Gojo in this regard.

Sanbaiba tried to retreat, but Toji was already at her side. With a single punch to her back, he sent her flying. Her body slammed into a nearby building, embedding itself into the wall and leaving a grotesque, human-shaped dent. Blood splattered everywhere as she crumpled into the debris, lifeless.

After disposing of the two cursed users, Toji turned toward Megumi and began walking slowly in his direction.

"Megumi," Yuji called out as he moved to stand beside him. Keeping his guard up, he glanced warily at Toji. Though Toji had just taken down two enemies, Yuji remained cautious. After all, Toji had been an enemy moments ago, and his actions remained unpredictable.

Megumi, however, maintained a calm expression as he stared at the approaching figure.

"That kid hasn't let me down," Toji muttered to himself, stopping about six meters away from Megumi. He looked the younger Fushiguro up and down, as well as the Shikigami at his side, before bursting into laughter. Without warning, he raised his hand like a blade and stabbed it into his own head.

The sudden, shocking act left both Megumi and Yuji frozen in place. Moments later, Toji's body collapsed to the ground, his face reverting to that of Sanbaiba's grandson—his original appearance before possession.

Megumi knelt next to the body, his expression complicated. Though he had no personal memories of his father, he was well aware of Toji's name and reputation.

"Megumi, are you okay?" Yuji asked hesitantly. The tension in his voice betrayed his concern, but Megumi waved him off.

"I'm fine. Let's deal with the cursed tool first," Megumi replied, walking toward Sanbaiba's lifeless body. He retrieved the cursed tool used to maintain the veil and promptly destroyed it.

"Let's move. There are still people who need saving. We don't have time to dwell on this."

Though Megumi had no emotional attachment to his father, witnessing Toji's self-destruction left a heavy impression. It wasn't something he could easily process, but the urgency of the situation forced him to set his thoughts aside for now.

"This area is clear. We're heading to the next location to assist," Megumi informed Yaga over the phone after the veil was taken down.

"Quite the selfless act," Daniel murmured as he observed from a distance. He had learned about Toji's story from Gojo, including the Star Plasma Vessel incident and the events surrounding Toji's death.

Though Toji's actions often seemed heartless—selling his son to the Zen'in clan for money—his final act revealed a hidden depth of love for Megumi. It was clear that everything Toji had done, including this self-sacrifice, was to give his son a better chance at life.

Just as Daniel prepared to follow Yuji and Megumi, his Observation Haki detected trouble elsewhere. Nobara Kugisaki was in danger.

When Daniel arrived, he found Nobara and Akari Nitta lying injured on the ground. A yellow-haired youth wielding a strange sword stood over Nobara, preparing to strike her down with a smug expression.

Before the blow could land, Daniel struck, sending the youth flying into a nearby wall. The sheer force of the impact caused the wall to collapse, burying the yellow-haired man under the rubble.

"Are you okay?" Daniel knelt beside Nobara, using medical ninjutsu to treat her injuries. His mastery of reverse cursed techniques

was limited, but medical ninjutsu and ki manipulation were sufficient for this task.

"Nitta?" Nobara asked weakly, her voice laced with concern.

"She's alive," Daniel reassured her. After stabilizing Nobara, he moved to Akari Nitta's side. Her injuries were far worse, but Daniel managed to stop her bleeding and stabilize her condition.

"She's lost a lot of blood. She'll need rest, but she's out of immediate danger," Daniel said.

"Thank you," Nobara replied, rising to her feet.

As Daniel turned his attention back to the rubble, he was surprised to sense faint life signs from the yellow-haired youth.

"So, he's still alive. Interesting," Daniel remarked, clearing the debris with a wave of his hand. The yellow-haired man, heavily injured but alive, stared at Daniel in shock and fear.

"How are you alive?" Daniel asked, gripping the man's head and delving into his memories using his powers.

"Stored miracles… quite the impressive ability," Daniel muttered. The man's technique allowed him to "store" miraculous outcomes, enabling him to survive deadly situations by sheer luck.

"Too bad you squandered it on someone like you," Daniel added, unimpressed by the man's cowardly and arrogant demeanor.

"Miracles have limits," Daniel said coldly. This time, he wouldn't leave it to chance.
