Kaido, one of the Four Emperors, was known for his love of attempting suicide. It had to be said that the Four Emperors each had their own unique quirks: Whitebeard loved spending time with his "sons," Red-Haired Shanks enjoyed traveling, and Big Mom was always eating.
As one of the Four Emperors, Kaido didn't carry a Den Den Mushi with him. Even if he did, the device wouldn't survive his reckless lifestyle. Without a Den Den Mushi, it was impossible to contact him.
Kaido, of course, wasn't worried. After all, it was rare for anyone to attack his territory. Unfortunately, this time was an exception.
"This place is truly amazing." At the entrance to Wano Country, Adda, Robin, and the others stood on the deck of their ship, watching in awe as giant koi fish emerged from the sea, pulling their ship up the waterfall. It was a sight they had never seen before.
Adda, Robin, and the others had traveled far and wide during their journey. With Daniel absent, they had visited many strange and wondrous places, such as the island where people could walk on air. If they hadn't been rushing to Wano, they might have continued exploring other mysterious islands.
Esdeath wasn't particularly interested in these wonders, but Adda and Robin were fascinated. Their passion was adventure.
The world of pirates was full of incredible places, such as islands constantly struck by lightning or floating islands in the sky. It was no wonder that figures like Roger and Shanks loved to roam the seas.
In this regard, Luffy couldn't compare to Roger. Luffy was too fixated on reaching Laugh Tale. If it weren't for his lack of strength, he might have charged straight there.
In contrast, Roger had spent many years wandering the seas before finally setting his sights on Laugh Tale after learning he was terminally ill.
Of course, it was also possible that Roger hadn't been aimlessly wandering but had been searching for Road Poneglyphs. Among the Four Emperors, Big Mom and Kaido were both very interested in Laugh Tale. They stayed in the New World because they hadn't collected all the Road Poneglyphs yet.
The New World was vast. The territories controlled by the Four Emperors only covered half of it. The New World had a second half, which remained largely unexplored.
While Daniel had no interest in Laugh Tale, he was curious about the New World. Unfortunately, information about the seas only extended as far as Elbaf, the world's strongest giant kingdom in the New World. Beyond that, there was no information.
"Someone's coming."
As the ship continued its ascent up the waterfall, Adda suddenly looked up, shifting her gaze from the koi fish to the sky above. A ball of fire was rapidly approaching. In an instant, Adda disappeared from the ship. The next moment, countless bolts of lightning struck the approaching fireball.
The dense barrage of lightning left the fireball with no room to dodge. With a grunt, the fireball transformed into a black figure and plummeted from the sky. However, a thunder dragon immediately formed in the sky and lunged at the falling figure.
"King the Wildfire, one of the Three Disasters of the Beasts Pirates. Too bad you won't get a chance to shine this time." Daniel recognized the falling figure immediately.
King, who had nearly killed Big Mom, possessed the Ancient Zoan-type Devil Fruit, the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Pteranodon, which gave him a significant advantage in aerial combat. Aside from the Glint-Glint Fruit, the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, and Kaido's ability to transform into a dragon, few could match King in the air.
Even Moon Walk couldn't keep up with the speed of a Pteranodon. Big Mom had nearly been killed by King when he seized an opportunity to strike her at a critical moment.
Unfortunately for King, he had encountered Adda, who possessed the Rumble-Rumble Fruit. It was his bad luck. The Rumble-Rumble Fruit's unique properties gave Adda incredibly powerful Observation Haki. In terms of sheer range, even Daniel might not match Adda's perception.
"Attack!"
After King was struck down from the sky, the ship reached the middle of the waterfall. At this point, cannons hidden along the waterfall began firing.
The waterfall was Wano's entrance, and the Beasts Pirates had naturally set up defenses here. Climbing the waterfall made it nearly impossible to evade cannon fire. If the ship were destroyed and fell from the middle of the waterfall, the consequences would be dire.
The Beasts Pirates had placed their cannons at the midpoint of the waterfall, a testament to their cunning.
"Looking to die?" Esdeath sneered as the cannons fired. Dozens of ice spikes materialized in the air and shot toward the incoming cannonballs.
Amid the explosions, Esdeath repeated the process, destroying the cannons along the waterfall. With the cannons gone, the ship ascended the waterfall without further trouble.
"They didn't even station troops here. Pirates really can't compare to a proper army."
The entrance to Wano was a natural fortress. With proper defenses, it could repel most invaders. Yet the Beasts Pirates had only set up a few cannons and left it at that. Neither the Navy nor the Revolutionary Army would have made such a glaring oversight.
In the original story, Wano's defenses were full of holes. Despite being a closed-off country, its entrance was often left unguarded. Even when Luffy and his crew arrived, no one noticed.
"It looks like she'll need some time to finish her fight. Let's wait." On the deck, Daniel and the others watched the lightning storm in the distance, deciding to wait for Adda to finish her battle before going ashore.
King, as one of the Three Disasters of the Beasts Pirates, was undoubtedly powerful. In fact, all three Disasters were formidable. Even Jack, who seemed the least intelligent, had clashed with Sengoku, Tsuru, and Fujitora. Despite his recklessness, Jack had survived.
King was even stronger than Jack. Over the years, King had faced many powerful opponents, even daring to confront Kaido head-on, though he had ultimately lost.
But this battle was the most frustrating King had ever experienced. From start to finish, he had been unable to fight back. He couldn't even transform into his Pteranodon form and take to the sky. All he could do was endure the relentless lightning strikes with his powerful Armament Haki. It was a battle of endurance.
In terms of using the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, Enel was an amateur. Why engage in close combat when you could defeat your enemy from a distance with lightning?
"Let's see if you can withstand this. Thunder Release: Kirin Thunder Prison."
Seeing that ordinary lightning wasn't enough to defeat King, Adda snorted coldly. Amid the storm, dark clouds gathered to form the shape of a thunderous kirin. The kirin roared and descended from the sky, slamming into King and forming a lightning prison around him. The surrounding lightning continued to strike the prison, channeling through the lightning pillar above.
This was a technique Adda had developed based on the Thunder Release: Kirin, modified for her Rumble-Rumble Fruit. While the original Kirin required specific conditions to use, the Rumble-Rumble Fruit eliminated that need. By gathering thunderclouds, Adda could reduce her own energy consumption.
King didn't last long in the thunder prison. Soon, his body convulsed, and he collapsed.
"He's still alive? King the Wildfire is almost reduced to ashes. Should we kill him? No, let's spare him. After all, he seems to be the last of his kind." Looking at King's charred body, Daniel hesitated for a moment before deciding to let him live.
Daniel's goal in coming to Wano wasn't to destroy the Beasts Pirates. Such powerful fighters shouldn't go to waste. If they were to die, they should at least serve a purpose first.
"Kaido doesn't seem to be here. That's troublesome."
After securing King, Daniel and the others tidied up the ship and went ashore. Daniel had originally planned to capture Kaido after Esdeath's battle with him, taking control of Wano and the Beasts Pirates.
This would allow them to wait for the Revolutionary Army and the Navy to make their moves before acting accordingly.
"Come out. We've already found you." As soon as they stepped ashore, Daniel stopped Esdeath from attacking and called out to a large rock to their left.
Shortly after, a small girl in tattered clothes, her face a mix of curiosity and fear, emerged from behind the rock.
"Tama." Daniel recognized the girl immediately. This was why he had stopped Esdeath. Otherwise, Esdeath might have accidentally killed her.
Aside from Momonosuke, Daniel had no reason to harm children. Even though he disliked Momonosuke, he hadn't gone out of his way to kill him. At most, he ignored him. If Momonosuke had tried to attack him on Punk Hazard, things might have been different.
Of course, if Momonosuke ever attacked him in the future, that would be another matter.
"Don't be afraid. We're not bad people." Robin stepped forward with a gentle smile.
"Are you pirates from outside? Do you know Ace?" Perhaps reassured by Robin's smile, Tama immediately asked about Ace.
Given the commotion and the earlier cannon fire, most residents would have stayed away. But Tama was desperate for news of Ace, which gave her the courage to approach.
In the world of pirates, promises held great weight. Luffy had become the man who would be Pirate King because of a promise. Tama often came to the shore, hoping for news of Ace.
Unfortunately, Ace wouldn't be coming to Wano anytime soon. For one, Wano was Kaido's territory, and while Ace might not care, he had to consider the risks.
Secondly, Ace was currently occupied. The Whitebeard Pirates weren't doing well in the New World. Esdeath's battle with Whitebeard had not only made her famous but also tarnished Whitebeard's reputation, much like Daniel's killing of a Celestial Dragon.
Many now believed Whitebeard was past his prime, and some were bold enough to challenge him. Killing Whitebeard would be a sure way to make a name for oneself.
Even the Beasts Pirates and Big Mom Pirates were stirring. Their subordinate crews were already clashing, and it wouldn't be long before full-scale conflicts erupted.
With the Navy's influence waning, pirates in the New World were becoming more active.
In such a situation, Ace, as the commander of the Whitebeard Pirates' Second Division and one of their main fighters, couldn't possibly leave to visit Tama.
"Fire Fist Ace? I know of him. What's your connection to him?" Robin was surprised that such a young girl would have a connection to Ace.
"He promised to take me to sea once I become a kunoichi," Tama said firmly, recalling her promise with Ace.
"You don't look like a kunoichi yet. You'll have to wait until you're older."
"I—" Tama was about to argue when her stomach growled loudly, causing her face to turn red with embarrassment.
"It seems you're hungry. Here, have something to eat." Robin immediately took out some cakes and water from her spatial ring and placed them in front of Tama.
"I—" Tama wanted to say she wasn't hungry, but the aroma of the cakes made her stomach growl again.
"It's fine. We have plenty of food." Robin took out more food, and seeing this, Akame pulled out a piece of roasted meat and began eating. Not to be outdone, Kurome started on some sweets.
After recovering, Kurome had retained her love for sweets. Her spatial ring was filled with sugary snacks.
Akame, on the other hand, was all about meat. She had hunted many Sea Kings during their journey, and her spatial ring was stocked with various types of roasted meat.
"Let's have a meal together." Seeing this, Daniel used Wood Release to create a table and chairs, then placed some food on the table.
"All of this is for me?" Tears welled up in Tama's eyes as Robin and Chelsea handed her food.
Since she could remember, Tama had never had enough to eat, let alone such delicious food. Even when she had been with Ace, it had been the same.
In a way, Tama's encounters with Ace and later Luffy were similar. She had shared her meager food with them. While Ace and Luffy were strong, they were clueless about everyday life.
Luffy was slightly better off, thanks to Nami and Sanji, and hadn't resorted to dining and dashing. But Ace had made a habit of it.
"We've already arrived in Wano. There's no need to rush. We're not in a hurry." Sipping his tea, Daniel reassured the impatient Esdeath.
The tea, of course, had been provided by Chelsea and Robin, who kept such things in their spatial rings.
