Now he found himself in the role of such an executor of his own orders. And although he could simply leave the penal colony with his head held high, leaving all the headaches to the new leadership, the archmage realized that his decision would be widely publicized by his envious friends, and in the most unfavorable light. So it was necessary to solve problems, no matter how small they were. Sometimes even generals command companies.
Seeing the archmage's confusion, which arose after the demolition of the mine managers, Alexander came to his aid. First of all, the documents were requested, in which the vampire immediately "discovered" the discrepancy between the real and stated figures. A quick investigation revealed the fact that the convict women had been handed over to the people of Archmage Elos.
Suspended upside down by magic, the former manager immediately gave up all passwords and identities, pointing to his deputy. He held on a little longer and at first steadfastly denied guilt, blaming everything on the instructions of his superior and sticking to the line - "I was only following orders".
But when his blood began to boil in his veins and his limbs began to dry up, he quickly confessed, which no doubt made his fate easier. A mage of water, of which there is a great deal in the body, holding an inquest and knowing no pity, is not the best object for hanging noodles on his ears.
When all the machinations were finally uncovered, it was time to punish the culprits. The former manager and his deputy were thrown out to the clean and tidy fort courtyard, which had been carefully tidied up by the convicts, and executed. The archmage just slowly filled their bodies with water until, after a few minutes, the criminals screaming in pain were torn apart.
The picture before his eyes made even the vampire a little nauseous, the archmage's retinue and the soldiers of the garrison turned very pale, and almost half of them parted with the contents of their stomachs. Alexander quickly coped with the gagging and walked carelessly across the blood-spattered courtyard to the almost uninjured head of the deputy manager, whose name no one had asked, and with the calmest of looks lifted it so that some of the blood fell on his hand.
After getting all the necessary information, the vampire did the same procedure with the former manager's head, and then returned to the archmage's retinue and handed his trophies to the centurion.
- Hanging these above the gate.
As he made his little walk, watching him, a few more people had parted with their breakfasts and lunches, but the pale centurion bravely kept it all to himself. Having received his orders, he nodded to one of the soldiers to take the heads from the knight, but the poor fellow he had chosen could not take two steps before he was repeatedly twisted to the ground. The next victim among the soldiers repeated the fate of his predecessor.
The centurion stood there not knowing what to do, knowing perfectly well that if he took THIS personally, he would also add work to the cleaners, but he couldn't refuse the order. The vampire, realizing the officer's condition, did not torture him or the other witnesses of what was happening and just threw the heads near the porch.
- When you're ready, hang them up. For your edification!
The centurion only nodded without opening his mouth, but his gaze was full of gratitude. The archmage clapped the knight on the shoulder in satisfaction.
- I've always loved it about Valerians, that famous equanimity of yours. No matter what happens, you're like a flint! I envy you. Well, let's go solve the rest of our problems. Who else but the Magical?!
Hearing the unofficial motto of Valeria and all the other mages of the world, Alexander smiled, naturally playing. But to go and clear all the joints of the locals, it was necessary seriously. And most importantly, not a single thought in his head how to do it! You can't feed half a thousand people with air, which in a few days will be the only content of the food warehouse and you can't magically transfer ore to Kas!
