Toneri sprinted across the cracked earth, every step sending up clouds of dust and steam that hissed from his battered body.
'Ouch… that hurts… and I'm low on chakra… what the hell was he doing inside my Jade Wheel while trying to break free? That depleted my reserve so damn much…'
His body still steamed, slow healing straining against his dwindling energy. The residual mist from his Jōki Bakuhatsu(steam explosion) clung to the air, thick and scalding. But there was no time to stop as he could feel Darkseid was chasing him without looking back.
' well I guess he's pissed!'
Toneri felt it before he even saw it a shockwave of force, a ripple of pure vibration power. From the corner of his eye, he caught the sight of Diana, her form blazing with Amazonian resolve as she clashed her bracers together. The force of it slammed into Darkseid, hurling the titan away just as he lunged toward Toneri's back. Toneri quickly attached himself to the earth with his chakra not to get blown away.
Darkseid smashed into the crimson barrier, bounced off, and landed on his feet with a snarl, undeterred. All of this happened in the span of two seconds.
'Tch, what a monster… should've known that wouldn't keep him down… even worn out as he is…'
Toneri reached Cyborg, his hand glowing with raw emerald chakra but he hesitated.
'Damn… if I dump this into him without a proper measure, I might overload him…'
"Cyborg!" Toneri snapped, eyes sharp. "What type of energy do you need?"
But before the reply came, another shockwave hit. Shazam was sent tumbling through the air, Lantern crashed to the ground hard, and Darkseid loomed, lifting a colossal foot to squash Lantern like an insect. Diana's lasso lashed out, yanking his leg, while Flash blitzed the other with breakneck speed, slamming into it with built momentum, forcing another shockwave that sent Batman staggering back.
Cyborg gritted his teeth, struggling to stabilize the gate's configuration.
"Anything! Just give me anything! We don't have time!" he barked, desperate.
"Tch. Fine then…" Toneri growled, pressing his glowing hand to Cyborg's shoulder.
The moment Toneri's chakra flowed into him, something unexpected happened. Cyborg's suit emitted a sound a deep hum then the AI voice chimed in:
"Exotic energy detected. Requirements met. Upgrade available. Upgrade commencing."
Cyborg's entire form rippled. The metallic parts of his body vibrated, then began to shift, as if reweaving themselves at the atomic level. Toneri's Tenseigan saw it all the atoms of Cyborg's being drank in the chakra like starving beasts, binding, evolving, becoming something new.
'Hooo~ that's interesting…' Toneri thought, watching the transformation unfold.
The suit reshaped itself, layer upon layer.
A full-body combat armor emerged, sleek yet terrifying dark, textured plating hugged Cyborg's frame like living muscle. Ribbed patterns ran like tendons across chest, arms, and legs. A smooth, contoured helmet formed, the face featureless but for twin slits of glowing green light where eyes would be. His shoulders widened with protective bulk, the arms bore integrated weapons that hugged his forearms like predatory tools and then shifted, dissolving back into the suit like liquid. Segmented plates armored his legs without hindering movement, and his boots seemed built to crush mountains. (Think cryNet nanosuit plus max steel suit combo).
The entire form gave off the presence of a high-tech predator alive, aware and very much lethal.
Cyborg stared at himself, voice altered by the transformation.
"What the fuck happened to me?!" His voice echoed deeper, more mechanical, but still him.
"Wait… what am I wearing?! What did you do to me?!" His voice adjusted back to normal.
Toneri allowed himself a small, strained smirk.
"It would seem… my chakra gave you an upgrade."
Before more could be said, a deafening boom split the air Shazam went flying…again, lightning crackling off his battered form. Darkseid loomed again, pinning Lantern beneath him, ready to crush underneath his shield constructs, cracks began to develop as he tried to hold against the titanic blows of the enraged dark god. Diana rushed in with her sword raised to take Darkseids head but was blasted away with a heavy dose of his omega beam.
Toneri's voice cut through the chaos, urgency clear.
"Later! For now do you have enough power?!"
Cyborg's AI responded, voice cool and precise:
"Energy levels optimal. Proceeding."
Cyborg clenched his fists, green light flaring from his systems.
"Hell yes."
In the next instant, the air shimmered and a Boom Tube cracked open, then another, then dozens, hundreds and finally thousands across the sky and earth they opened, each one pulling with immense vacuum force. The parademons shrill, screeching were yanked skyward, into the hungry maws of the portals, torn from Earth in droves.
A massive Boom Tube flared open behind Darkseid just as he unleashed his Omega Beams at Diana. The Amazon braced herself, crossing her bracers, deflecting the searing energy with grit. But the sudden suction of the portal made Darkseid falter he felt its pull, his foot sliding back slightly.
The dark god snarled and began to push forward, fighting the growing force behind him, step by step.
"Push him in!" Diana roared, voice commanding.
Without hesitation, Green Lantern summoned a massive hybrid construct of a monstrous fusion of tank and ship, its barrel glowing emerald as it fired. The first shell crashed into Darkseid, exploding in a green inferno. The blast rocked the dark god, forcing a snarl of fury from his throat but he kept moving, planting his feet, clawing his way from the Boom Tube's edge.
From above, Shazam came streaking down, lightning blazing around him.
"TAKE THIS!" he bellowed, hurling a thunderbolt at Darkseid.
The divine lightning struck home. Darkseid screamed, his form trembling under the electric wrath. Still he fought through it, straining every fiber to resist the Boom Tube's pull.
"What the hell is this guy's problem?!" Flash yelled, zipping by in a blur.
Diana clenched her jaw. "Our attacks aren't enough!" she growled. She slammed her bracers together again, unleashing another wave of force that rocked Darkseid. He stumbled, back arching as he teetered toward the portal's gaping maw.
And then
"Senpou: Jiton Rasengan(sage art; magnet style rasengan)"
The voice came from within the Boom Tube. A Rasengan spiraled from the yellowish void, etched with sealing markings, and into Darkseid's back. The magnet-style fuinjutsu activated on contact, chains of chakra markings spreading over the titan's body, locking his movements for a heartbeat.
It was Toneri's clone emerging from the portal.
The real Toneri, raced over and dispels his clone, he felt the surge of memory as the clone dispelled, the burn of borrowed Two-Tails chakra returning back to him.
'The moon was definitely necessary for an improved scenery… but why burn so much chakra for something half Earth's size?' he mused grimly, his body still steaming as it tried to heal.
Darkseid's body quivered, the seal already straining under his will. His fingers twitched he was breaking free. But before he could rise, Superman emerged from the Boom Tube, fury in his eyes. His fist came down like a hammer of the gods, slamming into Darkseid's face. The impact created a visible ripple through the air, as if reality itself quivered at the force.
The shockwave blasted Toneri back several meters. He righted himself mid-air, cushioning the force with chakra.
Shazam took position in front of Batman, Flash tucked behind Wonder Woman, ready to guard.
Toneri didn't waste a breath. His form crackled with energy as his Lightning Armor activated. He shot forward, feet kicking off the earth, aiming for Darkseid.
As he closed in, Toneri's foot lashed out in a brutal kick, channeling
Doton: Kajūgan no Jutsu (Earth Style: Weighted Rock Technique). The added mass behind the blow shoved Darkseid closer to the Boom Tube's hungry pull. But Darkseid's hand clawed into the ground, gouging deep trenches as he fought back, halting mere meters from the portal's edge. The suction roared, the force immense.
Toneri's eyes narrowed.
He and Superman launched forward together. Toneri's body steamed once more, strength magnified, heat rolling off him like a furnace.
Darkseid roared and fired twin Omega Beams, branching toward them both.
But Toneri vanished, reappearing behind Superman, palm pressed to his back. Together they blinked from sight, the Omega Beams tearing past harmlessly.
In a flash, they reappeared beside Darkseid Superman's fist already cocked. His punch collided with Darkseid's jaw, the crack of impact echoing across the battlefield. Toneri's kick followed instantly, slamming into Darkseid's chest.
Diana wasn't far behind her uppercut snapped the titan's head back, the combined assault finally sending Darkseid crashing through the Boom Tube.
"NOWWWWWW!" Toneri roared.
Cyborg didn't hesitate. The portal snapped shut with a deafening CRACK, the space sealing with a finality that resonated in the still night.
For a long breath, there was only quiet. The air hummed with the echo of battle.
Lantern exhaled hard, lowering his glowing fists.
"It's finally over…"
The night was theirs.
