Chapter 16 - Ki's Discovery and Septh's Realization

Ki woke up and peeped outside the curtains. The sun was still not up. He changed into his regular clothes and went for a jog before heading to his training ground. As he jogged through the city streets, he noticed a few people preparing their stalls for the busy day ahead. While jogging, Ki spotted cloaked men turning a corner. Curiosity got the better of him, and he followed them silently. There were around four of them, and they entered the central church. Ki was about to leave, thinking it wasn't his business, when he saw the King arrive shortly after. The King also entered the huge church with a few soldiers. Ki shrugged it off and headed to the forest where Kenji usually trained him.

Septh had been in the library all night and hadn't slept. "Lore of Summons. All of its pages point to one thing. I thought summons were mass-produced by the different kingdoms. Why does this book say the opposite?" She turned the pages repeatedly, seeing the Spade Kingdom mentioned hundreds of times. "This book says only Spade produces summons as war puppets. Where is this Spade Kingdom anyway? I need to find an answer." A book called *The Cycle of Devil* lay open with numerous phrases and words lined, but only one circled: "It requires blood to birth blood."

Hannah entered the room, startling Septh. Hannah noticed Sept's eye full of dark spots and her eye bags grew larger. "Oh, Septh, what have you done? Come now, take a break and sleep properly," Hannah said in an elegant voice. "But," Septh protested, stopping midway. She knew this information was crucial and decided to hold it in. "Can I ask one question?" Septh asked. "Yes? What is it?" "What is the name of this Kingdom?" Hannah paused, then answered, "New Spadion. Why do you ask?" Septh felt relieved, thinking it wasn't the Spade Kingdom. "Nothing," she replied, feeling a burden lift off her shoulders. As Septh was about to leave, Hannah added, "But it used to be called Spade Kingdom." Septh's face darkened in horror. Trembling, she walked away, trying to act normal. In the shadows, Hannah started to smile, Septh ran down the hallway. Maids looked on, surprised. She bumped into Zephyr and fell to the floor. "Are you okay?" Zephyr asked. Septh wanted to tell Zephyr everything but held back, aware of the maids around them. She stood up and whispered, "Meet with Ki this evening and wait for me in your room."

The sun was already high, yet Kenji hadn't appeared. Ki was doing pull-ups on a tree branch, wondering why Kenji was late. Hungry, he decided to visit the bar. Inside, he noticed the usual bartender had been replaced by a skinny young boy in a formal suit, serving customers. The usual patrons were also absent. Ki ordered a meal, sensing something was off. After eating, he walked around town, passing the church again. He glanced through the gate at the huge closed door. His instincts told him something was about to happen. The sound of the church door opening caught his attention. Ki quickly hid. The King emerged with the cloaked men, boarded a carriage, and left. Ki stood there, watching as the carriage disappeared into the crowd. Ki is about to leave the scene when he bumps with Kenji who is standing behind him. Kenji smiled at Ki.

What are you doing here my guy?" Kenji asked Ki.

"Well, you were absent from our training session, so I decided to walk around for the moment. Anyway, what's going on?" Ki asked Kenji.

"Don't worry about it. Say, let's go somewhere first."

"Where?" Ki asked.

"To the bar."

"But I already ate."

"Well, I need something there, so you have no choice."

Kenji starts to head to the bar, and Ki follows.

"The usual bartender isn't there."

"Oh really? I wonder where he went?"

Zephyr was having a duel with one of the soldiers. He calculated his opponent's moves and won easily. He noticed his body felt as light as a feather. He was topless, his muscles standing out, sweat covering his body. Zephyr approached Clayman, who was busy commanding his troops.

"You look so busy all of a sudden," Zephyr remarked.

"That's 'Sir' to you, boy," Clayman glanced at him.

"I apologize, sir," Zephyr stood straight.

"Your improvement is paying off," Clayman praised him.

"Thanks, sir," Zephyr smiled.
