Xu Kai pulled over the car and took out his phone. He dialed Cheng Xiao's number and called but she didn't pick up. Cheng Xiao on the other hand saw the call and decided to switch off her phone in anger.
Cheng Xiao got out of the elevator with the bag in her hand and walked to the penthouse she was sharing with Shen Mu, she entered the code, and the door opened. Shen Mu heard the sound of the door opening and came out of her room to see who it was.
"Cheng Xiao!" Shen Mu called in shock when she saw her.
"Is everything alright?" Shen Mu asked.
"I can't stand him; I want to sleep here for the night." Cheng Xiao replied with humph.
Cheng Xiao entered and walked straight on the couch; she collapsed on the couch. Shen Mu went to the kitchen to fetch a glass of water for her. Shen Mu handed her the glass of water and Cheng Xiao thanked her before gulping the water down.
Shen Mu went to join her on the couch and looked at her friend. "I am already stressed as it is, and he just have to go and add to my stress." Cheng Xiao complained.
"I didn't ask him to marry me; I never even wanted to. He put into this mess and now he wants to act as if he is the one that is wronged." Cheng Xiao added.
"I am always walking around on eggshells at work, no matter what I do I have to face criticism all the time." Cheng Xiao spoke.
"And to think that I was beginning to let my guard down for him." Cheng Xiao spoke.
Cheng Xiao remembered of the time when Xu Kai kissed her, and she didn't pull away from the kiss but kissed him back instead. Deep down even she knew that she was slowly starting to fall for him, despite all her efforts not to.
Shen Mu's phone rang and when she saw the caller ID she showed Cheng Xiao, Cheng Xiao saw the name and shook her head for her to reject the call. But Shen Mu didn't have the guts to not pick up the call, after all the man was her boss.
"Hello!" Shen Mu answered the call.
"Give her the phone!" Xu Kai spoke getting straight to the point.
"Sorry, I don't have the courage to not pick up the call." Shen Mu apologized handing Cheng Xiao the phone.
"You could have just ignored him, why did you pick up?" Cheng Xiao asked Shen Mu with a little bit of anger taking the phone from her hands.
