It was clear that this was not the situation Coach Wenger wanted to see.
In Wenger's opinion, Arsenal's players had not performed at their best tonight.
So, at the post-match press conference, Wenger was not in the mood to speak much. After scribbling a few words, he left decisively, leaving the bewildered reporters behind.
As the winning side, Chelsea's head coach, Antonio Conte, was full of excitement.
Without a doubt, this was the result Conte had hoped for the most.
"This was definitely a fantastic game. Every player showed their best side tonight, especially our forwards. We constantly created goal-scoring opportunities throughout the match!"
"During this 90-minute battle, Chelsea's players demonstrated their determination. Of course, defeating our opponents wasn't easy. We had to show strong fighting spirit. And tonight, we did just that!"
For their next game, Chelsea faced Norwich City in the third round of the FA Cup, playing away from home.
However, given the packed fixture schedule, Conte decided to make several lineup adjustments for the match.
He had only one goal—to keep his players in the best mental and physical condition possible.
Since most of the substitutes were given a chance to play, every Chelsea player gave their all in the game. But to be honest, they struggled to create clear scoring opportunities.
For most of the match, Chelsea focused on maintaining possession rather than pressing too hard.
During this period, the game continued at a slow pace.
Norwich was not a team known for its attacking strength. Most of the time, they played passively and failed to create any real threats to Chelsea's goal.
After a 90-minute battle, the match ended in a draw.
After that, Chelsea prepared for a crucial showdown against Leicester City.
This was the 23rd round of the Premier League.
Undeniably, both Chelsea and Leicester City had the same goal this season—to compete for the title.
Although Leicester's strength had declined compared to their title-winning season, their head coach, Pierre, still hoped to pose a challenge to Chelsea.
On January 13th, Chelsea was set to face Leicester City.
Then—
"Everyone, welcome to the highly anticipated clash between Chelsea and Leicester City! Up next, let's take a look at the starting lineups for both teams!"
"For Chelsea:"
"The goalkeeper is Courtois."
"A three-man defense: Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, and Rüdiger."
"A five-man midfield: Moses, Bakayoko, Kanté, Cesc Fàbregas, and Marcos Alonso."
"And two strikers: Hazard and Lukaku!"
"It's worth mentioning that Chelsea's star player, Su Luo, is not in the starting lineup. This is truly surprising!"
"Is the head coach planning to keep Su Luo as a secret weapon for later in the match? Given Su Luo's incredible ability, there's no doubt that if he steps onto the field, he will significantly boost Chelsea's attack!"
