Jacqueline chuckled softly. "That's Anna, Nathan's mate. She's been with the household for a long time. I suppose she became a bit shocked by your presence."
Ethan grinned. "I observed. I wish I hadn't made her too uncomfortable."
Jacqueline shook her head. "No, she's simply no longer used to seeing new faces round right here. Especially no longer family. It's been a long time since seeing that I had everybody from my beyond with me."
Ethan's expression grew severe again. "I'm right here now, and I'm no longer going anywhere. We'll get through this collectively, Jacqueline."
Jacqueline reached out and took Ethan's hand, feeling a surge of gratitude and comfort. "Thank you, Ethan. With you here, I understand we will."
Jacqueline watched Ethan carefully, her heart swelling with gratitude. His presence had usually delivered her comfort, and now, in this time of turmoil, it supposed even extra.
