Kai's eyes narrowed.
In front of him, just before the opening, marked by a gathering of blueness, a crack had appeared. It traced the circular boundary of the channel, progressing as if the channel were a mirror.

But even if he couldn't see anything at first, something happened that made him instantly recognize where he was, his eyes widening as they shot open.
Kai seemed to have barely missed the opening of the teleportation channel, because he had come incredibly close to reaching his destination.
Incredibly close only on the cosmic level.
For ordinary people, this closeness was still worth millions of miles, surrounded by utter blackness and… the celestial body reflected in Kai's hazel eyes.
It was a giant planet.

As the silence tried to hound his senses, he straightened himself, clenching and unclenching his fingers.
Kai looked around, but there was no sign of any enemy.
