Chapter 224 - Disection

Chapter 224 Disection

Aleshia began to understand why everyone was so afraid. Through that, she started to recognize the extent of the powers that many possessed in this era, excluding Lucia, the witch hat.

Regardless, Aleshia also realized that she held power strong enough to rival the kobolds, and she saw how this could instill fear in the others. She didn't want to be a source of that fear, at least not for them.

Grasping onto what the boy had said, she declared, "Thank the gods that mysterious thing saved us! Whatever it was, it did save us." Although her tone lacked conviction, in that moment, it seemed to take root in the group's minds, calming them down.

With Aleshia's words in their head, the group seemed to relax a bit, consciously attributing their protection to divine intervention. Ren was the first to regain her composure, shaking off her fright. Eager to respond to Aleshia's earlier question, she announced, "I believe I remember reading that the gem from this creature would suffice, and that bringing back the entire body would be most beneficial—similar to the horned rabbit, since its fur, pelt, and claws have many uses for various purposes."

After saying this, she called the others to join her and watch as she began to dissect the monster. Before she started, Ren examined the other two to identify the smallest creature among them so she could practice harvesting in case she messed up.

During that time, Aleshia felt that Lucia seemed more submissive around her than she had previously. Concerned about their relationship, she felt the need to discuss it further. Although before that, she believed that, as the oldest—or rather, the wisest—of the group, she should be overseeing the gruesome task of harvesting the kobold's body in case anything unexpected occurred.

While watching Ren do her best to harvest the smallest kobold, Aleshia had the bright idea of storing the bodies in her pouch. She proposed this idea after Ren finished her dissection. Looking at the declawed, defanged, and shorn Kobold, Ren appeared ready to say something but held back, allowing Aleshia to test her idea. To everyone's surprise, including her own, Aleshia was able to store the remaining kobolds in her bag.

Aleshia seemed eager to push Ren's harvested goods into the bag as well. However, she didn't want to seem disrespectful of her efforts. Noticing her hesitation, Ren responded, "My pride doesn't have to hold us back. Feel free to do as you wish, as long as it benefits the camp," saying it like a mantra. After Aleshia placed the goods into the bag, Ren and the rest of the group expressed their gratitude.
