Pierre gazed up at the bright sun illuminating the field of grass on which he stood, a serene smile on his face.
"Looks like I am dead."
A hearty chuckle escaped him, and he raised his left hand before his face to regard the white bird perched atop his finger.
"I am sorry, brother. I could not fulfill my promise in the end."
As if to say that it was all right, the bird, his brother Enzo, rubbed his tiny head against Pierre's face and chirped.
"Phuhahahahaha!" Pierre could not help but laugh loudly. "It is so strange and alien to finally have my head feel so clear."
"That is because all the damage you have ever suffered in your life has now been healed."
A familiar voice had come from beside them, and Pierre flinched, his eyes widening as his head whipped toward it.
"Your mind, which quite literally broke, your eyes, your... heart. They are all healed now."
