Chapter 119 - Chapter 116: I’m sorry Wanda

The fighting stilled the moment Gojo teleported in front of Professor Xavier. His expression was unreadable, but his presence alone was enough to silence both factions. He glanced at Rogue, his voice slipping gently into her mind.

'Are you alright?'

Rogue blinked in surprise, but quickly answered back within the mental link, 'I'mokay.' In the real world, she gave him a small nod of reassurance.

Gojo's gaze swept over the other X-Men, lingering on each one long enough to confirm they were unharmed. Spider-Man included. Only then did he turn his head toward the Brotherhood.

"Well, it would seem that you lot just don't learn, do you?" His words dripped with a casual arrogance that made them bristle.

Charles, however, was transfixed on Cain. Juggernaut's massive body twitched as his burned flesh struggled to knit itself back together, slowly regenerating. Gojo grunted in frustration as he saw this.

"Even after all that beating and the fact I put him in a psychic coma he's still able to regenerate?"

Charles was speechless. He had seen much through the projection earlier, but seeing his half-brother in this state with his own eyes… the sight of Cain reduced to charred muscle and twitching sinew, yet still alive, was staggering.

Before Xavier could speak, Pietro made his move. A blur of silver streaked forward, his hand just inches from Gojo's shoulder when—

CRACK!

Gojo vanished from his front and reappeared behind him in the same instant. His arm spun in a blur, crackling with lightning, before it slammed into the back of Pietro's neck. The speedster screamed in pain as his body flung like a ragdoll. He skidded across the ground with a sickening crunch, his leg bending unnaturally under the force. Unconscious before he even stopped moving.

"PIETRO!" Wanda's scream tore through the battlefield. She rushed forward, her face etched with panic as her brother lay unmoving.

"Oh shit…" Lance muttered under his breath, eyes wide. He looked at Mystique, fear in his expression. "I told you this was a bad idea."

Mystique's jaw tightened due to the brutality, but Gojo's attention snapped to her. A chuckle rumbled from his chest after reading her mind.

"Oh, that's funny… you've been playing Magneto, haven't you?"

The Brotherhood froze, confused by his words. Mystique's lips parted slightly, her composure shaken form what he had just said.

Gojo slid his hands into his pockets, tilting his head mockingly. "Too bad the dog bites the hand that feeds it." He tapped his temple with one finger. "She did a good job up here too, I'll give her that. But let's remove that, shall we?"

He snapped his fingers.

Mystique stumbled forward, nearly losing her balance. Her eyes darted wildly. "What… what did you—" She froze, realization dawning. Her glare shifted instantly to Wanda. "You!"

The air shifted violently.

Gojo's head tilted slightly, sensing the surge before he even turned. Magic fizzed madly around them, crackling like unstable energy.

Green eyes burned with fury.

"I'll kill you!" Wanda's voice was raw, dripping with venom.

Gojo finally faced her, utterly calm. "Will you now? Can't say you're the first to feel that way. It's getting boring at this point." His smile sharpened. "But go ahead. Give it a shot."

He stepped closer, his form rippling faintly, his eyes started glowing with molten red heat. "Last time you caught me off guard… but this time?"

Her response was a furious roar as hex bolts erupted from her hands, wild and unpredictable. Gojo teleported smoothly between them, unwilling to test what would happen if her chaos magic touched his Infinity… oh yes he had mastered that now. The real infinity that comes from the manipulation of space and not a botched off version he had been using with his telekinesis.

Logan tried to take the opening, leaping at her only for Blob's meaty fist to send him flying. Kurt bamfed in at the same moment, only to appear directly in front of Storm's lightning bolt. Wanda's chaos warped probability itself, turning their teamwork into chaos.

Gojo grimaced. "Reality warpers… always cheating and unpredictable as hell. But still."

"Stay still, you imbecile!" Wanda shrieked, flinging another hex bolt.

Gojo's smirk widened. "Why are you shouting, dearie? I can hear you just fine. But no to your polite request."

Her fury redoubled. Shards of metal ripped from the ruins around them, reshaping into jagged tendrils that shot at him from all sides. It was clever and vicious.

Gojo's eyes narrowed. 'Clever girl.'

He blurred into the air, twisting out of the reach of the tendrils. The wind whipped violently around him, brushing strands of Wanda's hair across her bloodless face. For an instant, it seemed as though she had him cornered with tendrils coming from all sides when…

FWWWWSSHHHH!

A whistle tore through the air.

THUNK. THUNK. THUNK.

Flesh was pierced in multiple places at once.

Blood splattered the ground.

Everyone froze at that moment.

Wanda's scream ripped through the battlefield, it was raw and filled with agony. Every head turned in disbelief towards her and back to Gojo.

Her body was suspended in mid-air, impaled from every angle. Dozens of wind-forged constructs such as spears long as lances pinned her like a grotesque pin-cushion. Blood ran in rivulets down her torn costume, dripping steadily to the floor.

Her wide green eyes locked onto Gojo as he descended in front of her, glowing blue once more. For one strange, painful heartbeat, her lips parted in awe.

'Beautiful…' she thought faintly.

Gojo's face was unreadable, but his voice was soft. "I'm sorry."
