Chapter 538 - Chapter 538

Thanatos: "Heh… just like during the Holy War. So many Saints and humans died. You achieved victory, sure—but at what cost? Wouldn't it have been better to surrender to Hades from the start?"

Sage: "Shut up. We only lost so many last time because of your sneak attack!"

Manigoldo: "As if surrendering would've saved anyone. Have some shame!"

Sasha: "Sacrifice only delays death. When there's no one left to sacrifice, and the vampire factory keeps getting stronger, it'll eventually go out of control. Don't forget—the screen said Entity-3 is nurturing an even more terrifying monster."

Akainu: "Of course I know that. When I'm strong enough, I'll destroy them all. Until then, what's a few deaths to maintain peace?!"

Natasha: "Compared to this guy, General Ross almost seems reasonable."

Banner: "Oh please, Ross would do the same thing."

Thanos: "Pathetic. If it were me, I'd just destroy the entire planet and be done with it."

Nobita: "Are you kidding?! Maybe planets are everywhere to you, but to the people on them, it's everything!"

Dan Moroboshi: "He's right. Don't talk about planets so lightly."

Thanos: "Hmph. If I worried about every planet, I'd never accomplish anything."

Suneo: "Hey… does it have to be humans? Can't they use animals as sacrifices?"

Aokiji: "From the footage the screen showed, there was no mention of animals being used. I saw those tentacles devour many Sea Kings—huge creatures, one of them equals tens of thousands of humans. But the monster didn't retreat, so I suspect only human sacrifices work."

Strange: "Could it be because Entity-3 used to be human?"

Gohan: "That's disgusting!"

...

Revolutionary Army Base.

Dragon watched the screen in silence for a while before turning to leave, heading for a certain room.

Outside it, several soldiers stood drenched in sweat, trembling from what they saw within.

"Ah… Dragon, what exactly is that Plague Doctor researching? It's terrifying!"

Southern Army Commander Lindbergh shouted anxiously.

"I thought she was a scientist I could collaborate with. At first she did help me develop powerful weapons and equipment, but her main research is beyond me!"

"Why is she reviving corpses into monsters?! She does all sorts of weird things to them—attaching metal parts everywhere—while chanting about 'plague' this and 'plague' that! What is she doing?!"

He waved his hands in panic as he spoke, clearly traumatized.

"I don't know either."

Dragon sighed. No matter how much he asked, the Plague Doctor could never explain what exactly 'plague' was.

"But what I do know is, her abilities can help us. She isn't an enemy. I'll handle this. You're all dismissed."

After calming them down, Dragon stepped into the room.

It was now the Plague Doctor's laboratory. Every day she demanded corpses and supplies for her research.

In return, she provided knowledge to support the Revolutionary cause.

Though insane, the Plague Doctor had participated in countless studies in the SCP universe. Combined with centuries of accumulated knowledge, she indeed offered much of value.

For example, advanced weapons—machine guns and cannons were nothing. Fighter jets and bombers, vehicles never before seen in the One Piece world, left the Revolutionaries in awe.

The only problem was figuring out how to fly them safely in the Grand Line's harsh weather.

If they could overcome that, it would revolutionize warfare.

Even more impressive were her missile systems, capable of striking distant islands across vast oceans—game-changing technology.

Beyond weaponry, she provided civilian advancements too.

She explained materials, techniques, and manufacturing methods, sending Lindbergh scrambling to gather resources and begin development.

But what intrigued Dragon most were her teachings on revolutionary tactics, the transition from feudal rule to modern society, and the philosophies of governance and ideology from her world.

To Dragon, this was transformative knowledge that could fundamentally reshape the Revolutionary Army.

That was why he tolerated all her gruesome experiments.

"I want to ask… do you know about the vampire factory?"

Dragon asked.

"Yes. One of the SCPs that gives the Foundation headaches. Why? Has it appeared?"

She replied while sawing apart a giant's corpse, then inserted unknown metal parts into the severed sections.

"Yes. Do you know what Entity-3 beneath it is?"

Dragon leaned against the wall, questioning further.

"No idea. Just that it's a very large monster."

She said absentmindedly while pulling out several vials of unknown liquids.

"Can your abilities kill such a creature?"

Dragon pressed on.

"I don't know, and I don't care. I have no interest in wasting my time fighting monsters to protect the world. No matter how dangerous it is, nothing matters more than plague."

She patted the corpse she was working on.

Most of its original body parts had been removed, replaced with strange metal implants.

It looked like a hulking monstrosity.

Slowly, it began to stand, moving as if alive.

"No… it's still wrong. This still can't cure plague!"

She snapped angrily, slamming her hand on the table.

"Plague, huh…"

Dragon murmured, deep in thought.

"You know… a Marine Admiral sacrificed over a hundred thousand people to calm that vampire factory monster. Tens of thousands were his own subordinates—young people with their whole lives ahead. He slaughtered them without hesitation, and thinks he was right. So cold-blooded, treating lives as expendable, using justice as an excuse… utterly insane."

Dragon clenched his fist.

"The rulers of our world are such madmen. Under their power, even those who would never act like that become infected. It's like a plague spreading."

Hearing this, the Plague Doctor immediately turned to him, her eyes lighting up.

"Exactly! In my research, plague victims all exhibit this symptom. Dragon, you truly understand me!"

She spoke excitedly, as if finding a kindred spirit.
