On the way home, Qi Taiguo was silent, his lips pursed, lost in thought.
"Is your heart aching?" Cheng Su sat on the back seat of the bicycle, hugging his waist, and leaned forward to ask.
Qi Taiguo nodded absentmindedly.
"I thought I'd done enough, but it's still not enough. The child ended up like this, in and out of the hospital. If Platoon Leader Zheng finds out, how will he blame me?" Qi Taiguo said self-reproachfully.
"That kind of thinking is wrong!" Cheng Su said: "You've actually done really well, although life is tough, they're still holding together. Without your support, they would probably have been unable to survive long ago!"
"But, it's still not enough!"
