Hou Ling watched Purple Jade depart, until her figure was no longer visible, only then did he turn to return home. Upon arrival, he learned that his grandfather and father had gone to collect pigs and had not yet returned. After a moment's thought, he spoke to his mother and promptly left again. He found his good friend, borrowed a horse, and headed straight for the county.
Purple Jade stood on the only road leading to Huayang County from the town. Only after seeing Hou Ling ride past on the horse did she emerge from the woods with a snort.
"The boy is quite cautious, but caution is good. It proves he's not someone who acts recklessly, otherwise, I really wouldn't dare to use him!"
After swallowing the jerky in her mouth, Purple Jade then led her horse out and rode leisurely towards Taiping Town, waiting to see what Hou Ling would do.
