Once the guards had withdrawn, leaving only the most trusted confidants behind, Zhao Mingjun walked to the rockery, found the mechanism, twisted it open, revealing the entrance. He glanced inside, seeing nothing unusual, his heart calmed a little.
Descending into the secret chamber, he looked around before approaching the desk to inspect meticulously. He then turned to the books on the shelf, each neatly arranged as per his habit, none out of place.
"Master, won't they come this way?" Zhao Mingjun's trusted guard, Li Yong, asked.
Zhao Mingjun snorted, "Who knows? Better safe than sorry. But looking at this, it doesn't seem like anyone's been here; none of the books have been moved."
He casually picked up a book, underneath which lay a small mechanism that opened up a secret compartment in the large bookshelf.
