The words had barely left Samantha's mouth when the temperature in the room plummeted so drastically that her breath came out in visible puffs.
Every surface began to frost over, and Morwenna's teeth started chattering audibly.
"Marcus," Luna said carefully, "you might want to rein in the homicidal fury before you turn us all into ice sculptures."
Marcus blinked, seeming to realize for the first time that icicles were forming on the light fixtures.
He took a deliberate breath, and the temperature began to climb back toward something approaching habitable.
"Sorry," he muttered, though his eyes still held the kind of cold that could freeze hellfire. "The thought of someone touching Kai like that makes me want to commit several different kinds of murder."
