"Samantha!" Kai's voice cut through her paralysis, his hand gripping her shoulder hard enough to bruise. "What are you seeing?"
She couldn't answer. Couldn't look away from the vision Nova was projecting through the bond—a cosmic-level threat that made their previous enemies look like minor inconveniences.
The thing beyond the rifts wasn't corporeal, not exactly. It was hunger given form, ancient beyond measure, and it had noticed them. Worse—it had noticed Nova.
And it was delighted.
"Sam!" Kai shook her harder, and the contact helped ground her enough to gasp out words.
"It's... I don't know what it is," she choked out, her voice trembling. "Nova's showing me something—oh God, it's huge and it's hungry and it's awake."
Margaret's face went absolutely white. "Describe it. Quickly."
