Unbeknownst to others, as Byron waved energetically at Redbeard, he was seething with frustration within the 'Whale Song':

 

"Fools! Your coordination is abysmal. It took you half an hour to form a basic battle line as per the plan. According to naval combat rules, such sloppiness is inexcusable, and leaving formation without permission could get a captain executed multiple times! How can you possibly defeat him without a concentrated broadside attack?"

 

Violet massaged her ringing ears. Despite her status as a distinguished third-rank pirate captain, she had no counterargument and simply murmured an excuse:

 

"Pirates are accustomed to solo combat. Our plan was sound initially, but during execution, we encountered numerous issues due to our high expectations and low capabilities. Even with the 'Flaming Rose' at the center, I can barely see the other ships a kilometer or two away.
