Sunlight filtered softly through the latticework windows of Maya's chamber, bathing the room in a golden hue. The scent of warm herbs and sandalwood filled the air. The healing ritual from last night had left the atmosphere charged, alive with lingering pulses of spiritual energy.
Maya lay still, her head gently turned toward the window. Her mind stirred before her body could. She could feel the difference—subtle, but present. The heaviness in her limbs had lightened, if only slightly. The constant numbness that once blanketed her frame now buzzed with a faint warmth.
Her eyes opened slowly, the golden irises reflecting the new dawn.
"You're awake," came the low, familiar voice.
