Chapter 1183 - Advice From the General

He now understood why he and Black Fang did not get along - well, Black Fang didn't get along with any of the other six department heads, but from what he knew, Maelstrom had some allies.

However, Black Fang was too foreign to him. She was akin to a force of nature he couldn't grasp or control, making it impossible to predict her next moves.

Men like him hated that.

Quinlan looked at Black Fang, wondering what her response would be. He knew that Maelstrom's accusations weren't quite right; if their places were swapped, Black Fang would've gone to hunt Morgana down even if she didn't hate the woman on a personal level.

Such was the mindset of this venomous predator: she was a hunter on an existential level. When presented with a worthy prey and a good opportunity, she'd jump on it.

Maelstrom, meanwhile, dreaded the possibility of losing and thus making his standing in the syndicate worsen.
