It's finally the end.
The evening atmosphere was heavy with the aroma of wet soil and pine foliage. With every breath she inhaled, it felt more hunting her, weighed down by the fear of what was pursuing her. The gentle moonlight hardly penetrated the thick foliage overhead, creating strange shadows that appeared to move and twist with each swift step she made.
She could sense it—rustling, crashing through the foliage, always right behind her. It was a noise she couldn't fully identify, raw and pressing, as if the forest itself was vibrant and eager to devour her. Her heart raced so intensely she could barely hear her own labored breaths above its thunderous beat.
In the distance, she spotted a subtle glimmer of light. She propelled herself ahead, fueled by a mix of desperation and determination. The man's chase was unyielding, yet her determination to live was equally strong. As she approached the source of the illumination, she allowed herself to dream. With one final surge of strength, she slammed thud! into the flat surface. Her breath came in ragged gasps as she lost sense of everthing, giving up her survival chances because there's no more hope left now.
She die tonight.
Baldwin's Mansion
The first thing she noticed was the feeling of gentle, strange warmth against her skin. It was so calming and comforting that it seemed nearly unfamiliar. Her eyelids fluttered open, yet the haze in her sight rendered all things like a watercolor image—gentle, vague, and moving.
Savannah tried to move, but her limbs felt like they were made of lead. Her mind, though, was racing, trying to piece together how she had ended up here. The room-or was it a room?-was unlike anything she recognized. The walls were a strange, serene blue, adorned with delicate patterns she couldn't quite make out. The bed she lay on was plush and inviting, a stark contrast to the hard surfaces she remembered.Groggy, she turned her head slightly, her vision clearing just enough to notice the sunlight streaming through sheer curtains, casting an ethereal glow around the room. She could hear the distant sound of chirping birds and the rustle of leaves. It felt peaceful, almost dreamlike, yet a gnawing sense of disorientation gnawed at her.
She tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over her, forcing her to lie back down. Panic fluttered in her chest, like a trapped bird desperate to escape. Her throat was dry, and her mouth felt like it had been coated in sand. She needed to find out where she was, what had happened.
The door to the room creaked open, and a figure appeared-tall, with kind eyes and a gentle demeanor. It was Blaze and he was dressed in his casuals, and this is the first time she have seen him this way. And there was a reassuring calm about him that momentarily eased her anxiety.
- "Savannah!" -
- "How are you feeling?"
- "Any pain?"
- "Felling Dizzy?"
Blaze questioned as he took a seat on the beside chair with the concerned face thats what she saw, she doesn't know if what she saw was correct, those words didn't immediately register. Her mind was still grappling with the shock of waking up in such an unfamiliar place. She opened her mouth to respond, but her voice came out as a croak. She cleared her throat and tried again. "Where am I? What happened?" she continued "I remem-"
Suddenly all the memory came back to me at one, the weight of those memories pressed against her like a storm cloud, dark and heavy.
"Where's Oliver?" Savannah questioned him to ask about Oliver, and Blaze seemed skeptical about answering her question, but he did-
"He's being taken care of, Savannah." She didn't comprehend what he meant when he said that, "What do you mean?" Blaze smiled gently as he approached, sitting on the bed edge. "Later Savannah, I know you have been through a lot, but the most important thing right now is that you are awake and recovering." He continued "So, don't think of anything just focus on recovering."
His reassurance did little to fully dispel her unease, but it was a start. She glanced around the room again, taking in the details-the delicate curtains, the lush plants in the corners, and the soft music playing faintly in the background. It was a world away from whatever had come before, and though she was still grappling with confusion, a part of her was grateful for the tranquility.
"What is this place?" She asked him again when she looked around her, it was an unfamiliar setting for her, "It's my secret room," he answered, confusing her and making her knit in confusion, he smiled and replied, "I come to this room when I can't make sense of things."
"We're in the mansion?" He nodded "How am I here?" she added "How did I got here?" Continued, "I remember giving up on my last chance for survival then-"
He cut her off again, like usual, "I would never let anyone harm you."
She doesn't know if it was her or trinquilizer, but did he really say what her ears heard, her head started hurting again, so she let go of all the unnecessary thoughts. "You saved me?" She questioned back because it makes sense at the moment "Take a rest Savannah," he added "Your legs are not still healed." She looked at her legs wrapped in layers of gauze, she then remembered how she got her legs trapped.
"You must be hungry, take a rest, I will be back." and he got up and was about to leave, but she gripped his right wrist tightly in her palm and demanded, "I want to know everything that happened after I passed out".
As she knew that the man had done all this to her, she was in a nightmare and wanted to get out of their. He smiled and said, "Once you finish your meal, Savannah," and she slowly let go of palm over wrist and he left. He was gone.
A moment of silence as she lay on her bed eyes closed.
She opened up her eyes as she thought of Theo. Where was he?
She got up and stared at the door. Blaze was gone, she frustratedly ran her hands through her hair as she thought of Theo, she had became anxious, she tried getting out of bed, but was unable to do so because her legs were not healed "Is anyone outside!?" She shouted out but no answer.
"Hello?" Again nothing just silence were giving an answers.
It seemed as if no one was there as no sound was heard, so she started looking around for her phone, but she couldn't find it either "Where's my phone?" - "Where's it!" , and later she found it on the desk, far from her bed, so she got around the bed and sat down, lowered her legs from the bed, and stood up on her leg slowly and steadily.
Despite the pain, she ignored it and got up.
She was stumbling with pain at every step she took, but luckily it was just five steps away and she got it, she initially dialed no., but something caught her eyes before she could even unlock her phone-
It showed 26th of October, today's 26th October?
Savannah remembered the day she was kidnapped was 19th of October, was she passed out for over a week!? She didn't know what was going on, she had a banging headache "The fuck!" -
She checked the time, it was 12:15 PM, meaning Theo must still be at school.
She hurriedly dialed Theo's school and it rang but no answer. She again hurriedly dialed, "Hello" Someone answered from the other end.
"Hello! I'm Savaanah, Theo's mom."
Savannah then asked, "Is there Theo, please give it to him, I want to-" she was cut off midway and she heard the most shocking news of her life.
"Theo's not between us anymore."
