Chapter 216 - Mr Sander's Story [2] (E)

"Six years ago, I got to know that my wife had Alzheimer's. Overwhelmed with confusion and anxiety, I talked with several doctors to find a cure for my wife, but the result was the same wherever I went. They all said it was a disease with no cure.

It was at that time that I decided to stop directing and move away from the city to this town. I wanted to spend the little time I had left with my wife in peace in this small town.

Thanks to that, I was able to build quite memorable moments with my wife here. My two daughters came to spend some time with her as well, but that didn't last for long.

As her memory deteriorated, the good moments that we spent with her felt fleeting and not too long after, my daughters stopped visiting as well.

I never blamed them since the agony of being treated like a complete stranger by one's mother would have been a harrowing experience for them. And so, it was just me who stayed with her until the last moments.
