High Celestial Plain, in Japanese mythology, is the world where the gods reside, as well as a sacred realm in the hearts of many Japanese citizens, celebrated for over 2000 years.
However, the real High Celestial Plain obviously does not exist; what does exist is a real place in the northern highlands of Japan.
This sparsely populated highland, brimming with mountains and forests, cannot be compared with the densely populated south, but the Japanese martial arts community knows it to be a stronghold of a powerful Daoist lineage.
This lineage is one of Japan's famous Yin-Yang Daoist sects, the Ping'an Yin Yang Dao, which emerged during the Ping'an period in Japan and has a history of over 1000 years.
It has stood in Japan for too long, with each generation boasting powerful Yin Yang Divine Masters. It commands great prestige in both the martial arts and secular communities.
