By the time Luo Beichen returned to the office, Xia Minghao had already left. Seeing Jing Yan sitting on the couch quietly reading a magazine, he walked over with a smile, sat down next to her, and pulled her into his arms, "Have you been bored staying at home?"
Jing Yan looked up, speaking softly, "My father is sick and has been hospitalized; he has late-stage lung cancer."
Luo Beichen was taken aback for a moment, and when he realized Jing Yan was referring to the father she had never met, he asked quietly, "Do you want to visit him?"
However, Jing Yan shook her head, "I actually don't have much of an emotional connection with them—it's just because they are my parents in name that I still feel somewhat upset upon hearing he's seriously ill and in the hospital."
