Grandmother lay in the recliner, very thin, her face ravaged by time looking particularly haggard, her spirits not well, like an oil lamp about to run out, flickering uncertainly, seemingly ready to extinguish at any moment.
"Are you Yaya?" Grandmother stared at Jiang Shuya in front of her, trying hard to open her eyes wide, but seemed unable to see clearly.
Jiang Shuya raised her hand, trembling as she caressed Grandmother's gaunt face, her eyes stinging, chest feeling heavy, a mist of tears quickly overtaking her vision.
"Grandmother, it's me. I'm Yaya. I've come to see you." Jiang Shuya blinked, suppressing her tears: "Grandmother, are you alright?"
"Yaya, is it really you? I thought I wouldn't see you again before I died." Grandma Jiang struggled to grasp Jiang Shuya's hand, which was caressing her face.
"Grandmother, I won't allow you to speak nonsense! You'll live a long life." Jiang Shuya squatted down in front of her grandmother, looking up gently at her.
